Opening Trades

Super tough sprinter - Dothraki could be the one to topple star sprinter English at good odds

The markets are open for serious Group-level racing at both Randwick and Caulfield this Saturday. At Randwick, the WINX procession continues in the George Main Stakes, Waterhouse's star sprinter ENGLISH resumes in The Shorts and HARTNELL lines up a short-priced favourite in the Hill Stakes.

There's a big ten race card and 58 more acceptances at Caulfield. Maximum-sized fields in the final three races will make sure punters have plenty of hours ahead reading the Guide.

With the markets already moving, the Analyst Team's opening trades are shown below. Check back in at Friday 9am for The Race Guides.

George Main Stakes

BUY HAURAKI to place at $1.6

"WINX will win and you can back her if you want to take the odds, but looking for value in place markets might be the better play. HAURAKI has finished 2nd or 3rd on the three occassions he's taken on the great mare and the price is value for it to happen again."

Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes

BUY MISS PROMISCUITY at $4.6

"Simply the best weighted horse in the race and also the best performed. The well-backed SECRET AGENDA is a threat, but she'll have to be fit to hold on at the end of 1,200 metres first-up."

The Shorts

BUY DOTHRAKI at $9.5

"DOTHRAKI is a rock solid Group 2 quality sprinter that always puts in. He'll have a hard time holding out ENGLISH, but if she's off her game he's the one at massive each-way odds."

Bill Ritchie Handicap

SELL HAPPY CLAPPER at $4.8

"He's a 'surge' horse that needs a STRONG tempo over 1,400 metres to find his best. Unless there are any riding announcements, he could be a flashing late and one to back next time."

MRC Foundation Cup

BUY JAMEKA now at $5.5

"Third-up and on the rise. It's a good race set-up for star filly JAMEKA on Saturday, who has Group 1 form and gets the inside barrier over 1,700 metres. Very hard to see her being out of the finish."
