Deserves better this time - Hunter Jack was brave coming second at big odds last start

There's four big metropolitan meetings in two days this weekend, Rosehill and Flemington host Saturday racing after Canterbury and The Valley feature the night before. Plenty of mid or lower level gallopers line up to grab a slice of big prizemoney while the better horses are in the paddock, or waiting for the Villiers in another week.

The Rosehill Race Guides will be on-line Friday 9am, along with previews of the other meetings. Until then, check out the Top 5 Early Insights below.

No. 1 Brave Hunter

"One of the things to look for when doing the form is how well a horse went compared to the other horses in a similar position. Tough veteran HUNTER JACK was way too strong for the other on-pacers third-up, beating ESCHIELE ($5) by 3.7L and BALMAIN BOY ($4.4) by 6.3L. A brave effort!"

No. 2 Golden Form

"GOLD AMBITION was good first-up after getting tightened on the rails behind SNOOPY. He was backed heavily that day after running 3rd in the Group One Randwick Guineas last prep. Expect the money to come again."

No. 3 On The Rise

"A Mick Kent stayer short in the market third-up over a distance is a good recipe. CHARLEVOIX took on the Group-level races as a three year old and is ready to make his 'benchmark breakthrough' as a four-year-old this summer. Very hard to beat."

No. 4 Hold, Hold, Hold!

"CADOGAN hasn't been hitting the line lately and Avdulla 'pushed the button' way too early last start, leaving him as a sitting duck for favourite ZUMBELINA. Expect Glyn Schofield to ride him much more patiently this weekend."

No. 5 Provincial Raiders

"The last race of the day at Rosehill Gardens is a real lottery, a capacity field with at least ten chances! Plenty of horses come to Sydney from out of town and there's a few with a promising future. Betting on WHAT COULD BE (10 starts for 3 wins) from Newcastle and LOUIE SEA KAY (8 starts for 2 wins) from Kembla Grange could be a smart play each-way."

Bet on WHAT COULD BE at $10 and LOUIE SEA KAY at $19
