Pride and Bowman give us "Three Choices"

Talented - Trois Choix in the winning stall alongside the older horses

Winning a Maiden race against the older horses when you are just a two-year old isn't an easy thing to do. You could liken it to winning a 100 metre all-aged sprint when you are a teenager. A good sign that the horse has it's fair share of talent.

Jo Pride would have known he had a 'good one' when his Choisir filly Trois Choix did exactly that at Wyong in July this year. A trip to the paddock immediately followed and she has accepted to make her second race appearance at Canterbury tomorrow.

The interesting part is the three trials Jo has given her in the lead-up, which read as 5th of 5, 5th of 7 and 5th of 8 on the page.

A chance she hasn't come back well this preparation? Not likely when you look at the tight hold jockeys Collett and Ford had on her in each of those warm-ups. She also looks to have retained her good action, cruising to the line with nice rhythm each time.

Jo Pride has booked Hugh Bowman for the ride in the 1250 metre Benchmark 67 race for three-year old fillies.

In the spirit of the horse's name itself, which is French for "three choices", it seems that us punters can either:

  1. Back her based on her scope and impressive Maiden win
  2. Have a good look at the yard and market before jumping in
  3. Stay out of the race

The other choice, ignoring her all together, seems a very risky option.
