Sydney Cup Day

Around for another lap - Big Duke will jump as favourite for the 2017 Sydney Cup, again

Two weeks after the tragic loss of Almoonqith, the re-run of the Sydney Cup shapes as an even more intriguing contest after trainer Lee Curtis decided to accept with the free-striding filly LASQUETI SPIRIT following her 3rd in the Australian Oaks.

The grinding young stayer is sure to make the race a true staying contest, testing the stamina of favourite BIG DUKE, who has never been to the two-mile distance before. And don't forget a few horses did finish the cancelled Sydney Cup, UK stayer POLARISATION 'winning' with Corey Brown aboard.

Outside of the rescheduled feature, it's back to off-season racing following on from the Autumn, lowly BM 78s and BM 76s opening the door for horses that have been racing around the Provincial circuit and midweeks during the Carnival.

The Race Guides will be on-line Friday.
