RACE 1: TAB.COM.AU Plate 1100m

Trust My Luck – blundered on jumping away and lost ground as a result. For some distance in the middle stages had to be steadied away from the heels of Rageese. Held up until approaching the 250m.

Sampeah – jumped awkwardly.

Let’s Make It Rain – jumped awkwardly.

Rageese – held up for a run and near the 200m had to be checked when attempting to improve inside Kiwi Boss where a full run had not developed.

Right Of Way – had to be steadied approaching the 50m when Sampeah (B Shinn) shifted in when not quite clear. B Shinn was reprimanded.

RACE 2: De Bortoli Wines Handicap 1200m

Queen Of Kariba – was crowded for room near the 250m due to Harrier Jet (H Bowman) and Invitations (K McEvoy) shifting slightly.

Invitations –when questioned concerning the poor performance of the colt as compared to its win at Newcastle on 8 November 2014, K McEvoy stated Invitations had an easy passage in the run, but today he had to make use of the colt to cross from its barrier and take up a position outside the leader, Lockroy, on the first turn when the pace was solid. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be mildly lame in the near foreleg. Trainer Mr J O'Shea advised the colt will be spelled.

Aerobar – B Avdulla (Oscuro) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 150m he directed his mount to the inside of the heels of Invitations, which resulted in Aerobar being crowded and checked. B Avdulla’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday, 7 December 2014 and to expire on Monday, 15 December 2014, on which day he may ride. In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account that B Avdulla had endeavoured to relieve the tightening to Aerobar, but was unable to shift out, as his mount was awkwardly place to the inside of Invitations. Rider T Berry stated his mount travelled well in the early and middle stages, but did not respond to his riding and, although he struck interference near the 150m, was a beaten horse at the time. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have an elevated heart rate and was displaying a poor post-race recovery. Trainer Mr G Ryan stated the only excuse he could offer was that the filly does not like horses around it in the run. He stated that he would report back on how Aerobar pulls up subsequent to the race. Irrespective the Stewards ordered the filly must trial prior to racing again.

RACE 3: Ascend Sales Trophies Handicap 1300m

Belannora – overraced in the early stages.

Mamwaazel – Overraced in the early stages. Rider H Bowman stated his mount travelled well early, however, from the 450m commenced to struggle and was inclined to lay out under pressure in the straight. The mare was hampered near the 50m when Belannora was taken out by Holy Delusions (App. L Grace), which shifted out under pressure. App. Grace was told to exercise more care. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying a poor post-race recovery. Trainer Mr C Waller indicated that he would have Mamwaazel fully vetted and provide the results to the Stewards. He also indicated that he would have the mare ridden more conservatively at its next start.

Holy Delusions – was disappointed for a run near the 250m when Belannoro (K O'Hara) shifted out and Mamwaazel (H Bowman), which was inclined to lay out, was corrected by its rider and shifted back in. Both K O'Hara and H Bowman were told to exercise more care. In the incident Holy Delusions had to be directed across the heels of Belannoro to continue its run.

RACE 4: TAB Rewards Handicap 1100m

Religify – rider T Berry was questioned regarding leading in this event. He stated that at its most recent start over 1000m, when it won at Warwick Farm on 12 November 2014, the gelding began only fairly and was beaten for pace. He added, with the anticipated strong speed in this event, he was instructed to take up a midfield position, but when Religify began well from its wide barrier, he looked to his inside to find cover, but with a moderate pace early, was caught wide and elected to go forward and cross closer to the rail. Trainer Mr C Waller confirmed his instructions to rider T Berry were to take up a midfield position with cover. He added, however, in light of today’s run, he would instruct his rider next start to adopt similar tactics to those adopted by T Berry, who used his initiative when caught wide.

Catseye Surprise – lost its rightful running rounding the first turn when Miss Alibi was taken in by Inside Job (App. B Loy). App. B Loy pleaded guilty of a charge of careless riding. App. Loy’s permit to ride in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 7 December 2014 and to expire on Monday, 15 December 2014, on which day he may ride. Rider S Clipperton stated the mare did not appear to appreciate racing with horses around it, but nevertheless tired quickly in the latter part of the event. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr T Croft undertook to report if there is anything amiss with the mare subsequent to the race.

RACE 5: ATC Cup (Listed) 2000m

No report.

RACE 6: Festival Stakes (Listed) 1500m

Hoylonny – was withdrawn at 3pm, following a recommendation from the Club's Veterinary Officer, who inspected the gelding at the request of the stable and subsequently reported swelling to the near-fore knee. Trainer Mr C Waller was asked to provide a veterinary clearance prior to the gelding’s next start.

Generalife – slow to begin.

Sir Moments – was hampered on jumping away when Aomen shifted in.

Heart Testa – rider H Bowman stated the gelding took some time to settle early in the race, then travelled well and, whilst he was able to hold his mount up until after straightening to ask it for an effort, Heart Testa did not respond and he was not entirely happy with the gelding’s action in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr C Waller stated that he was disappointed with the performance of the gelding and would report the results of a vet check to the Stewards. He added he would p;robably drop Heart Testa back in distance for its next start.

Mouro – Mouro and Generalife came together for some distance near the 1200m when they contested a position one off on the back of Mecir. Thereafter Mouro raced three wide with cover. Rider K McEvoy and trainer Mr T McEvoy could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance, other than Mr T McEvoy said the horse became stirred up in the race day stalls. He undertook to report the results of a full vet check and advise the Stewards of the immediate race programme for the horse. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Monton – Rider S Clipperton stated his mount jumped awkwardly and, with the strong early pace, the gelding raced further back then intended. He added nevertheless Monton was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. Trainer Mr R Quinton undertook to report back to the Stewards the results of blood tests to be taken early next week and how the gelding progresses. He added Monton was disadvantaged by racing further back than had been intended, with its top weight and wide barrier. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Estonian Princess – became unbalanced passing the 250m when Generalife shifted in and bumped that runner. Those two horses then continued to lay on one another over the concluding stages of the event.

Scream Machine – was held up for clear running until proceeding into a tight run near the 150m between the weakening Heart Testa and Aomen.

RACE 7: Starlight Stakes (Listed) 1100m

Senta De Noche – ran in badly at the start, causing interference.

Testarhythm – shifted out at the start, causing interference.

Aeronautical – crowded at the start.

Haussmann – tightened for room at the start.

Lilliburlero – checked on jumping away.

Fare Well – crowded at the start.

Cradle Me – slow to begin, then badly crowded. Trainer Mr D Pfieffer said the mare was not advantaged with the fast early pace and could not make ground from back in the field. He undertook to report back on the progress of the mare subsequent to the race.

High Esteem – became unbalanced near the 200m when Shamalia shifted out and made contact with that runner.

Shamalia - rider T Bell stated his mount travelled well, but disappointed in its failure to finish the race off. T Bell was reprimanded under AR137A(4)(b) for using the whip with an arm action raised above shoulder height.

Straight Gold – a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a poor post-race recovery. Trainer Mr G Moore reported the gelding will be spelled.

RACE 8: Irresistible Pools & Spas Handicap 1350m

Havana – which was laying back in its stall, was slow to begin (2.5 lengths). Co-trainer M Hawkes was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

Fight To The Line – which was inclined to overrace, was inconvenienced on the first turn when King Cobia (T Clark) shifted in when not fully clear. T Clark was told to exercise more care.

Flying Bay – rider J Parr stated his intentions were to be more forward, but when the mare jumped in the air at the start, he elected to immediately look for a position with cover, which he was able to obtain on the back of Koroibete.

Koroibete – was tightened for room approaching the 100m between The Alfonso and Amovatio, which shifted in.

Biloxi - was held up for a run and near the 200m had to be checked off the heels of Fight To The Line.
