  • Ipso Facto – bumped on jumping by Charlie Chap, which began awkwardly and shifted out.
  • Alik – slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
  • Viridine – slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages and, after passing the 800m, was steadied away from the heels of Connoisseur. Viridine then continued to race keenly for some distance thereafter.
  • Charlie Chap – raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Passing the 800m was steadied away from the heels of Ipso Facto, shifted out and made contact with the hindquarter of Alik. Briefly held up in the early part of the straight.
  • Pendeloque – rider App. J Innes Jr stated he was not issued with any specific instructions. He said, the filly, which was stepping up from 1000m to 1200m, commenced well and he therefore elected to hold the lead, particularly when Adsum, which was drawn to his inside, showed no intent of going forward to hold that position.
  • Adsum – rider T Berry stated the colt travelled well behind the leaders. He added on straightening he could not secure clear running between Pendeloque and Connoisseur and, whilst he was able to continue to push his mount, it did not secure clear running until inside the 200m. He said at that point he shifted out and made slight contact with Ipso Facto, which became unbalanced. He added his mount would be better suited with more comfortable racing room than it was afforded on this occasion. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 2: George Moore Hall of Fame Handicap 1400m

  • Quick Feet – App. J Innes Jr, rider of Passage Of Time) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that after the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of Quick Feet, resulting in Quick Feet losing its rightful running. App. Innes Jr's permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday, 28 May 2017 and to expire on Thursday, 8 June 2017, on which day he may ride.
  • Fleeting Stryke – for some distance near the 200m had difficulty obtaining clear running.
  • White Moss – over the concluding stages rider T Angland droped his off-side rein. When questioned regarding the filly settling back in the field, T Angland stated he had intended to be more forward, but it did not jump as well as it had at its last start at Warwick Farm on 3 May 2017. He said, after settling in a midfield position, when Quick Feet struck interference near the 1000m he was obliged to take hold of his mount to avoid the heels of Quick Feet and as a consequence settled at the tail of the field.
  • Passage Of Time – a post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt had lost its off-fore and off-hind plates.
  • Samadoubt – rider J Parr stated the only explanation he could offer for today's performance was that the gelding races better on a dry surface. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
  • Miss Ballantine – rider J Collett stated that the filly travelled comfortably in the run, but the only excuse he could offer for today's performance was that it did not handle the soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer's representative Mr C Duckworth concurred with the view of J Collett and undertook to report back on the progress of Miss Ballantine subsequent to the race.

RACE 3: Saintly Hall of Fame Handicap 1100m

  • Good Time Charlie – rider J Parr explained that the gelding is somewhat light-mouthed and when the start was effected it threw its head about and consequently lost ground. He said in the circumstances he elected then to shift in across behind runners and travelled satisfactorily behind the eventual winner New Universe. He added when New Universe quickened after entering the straight, his mount was unable to improve with that runner after the 300m and thereafter commenced to lay in and tire. He did express the view to the connections following the race that Good Time Charlie may benefit with the addition of blinkers and stepping up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
  • Kwaikini – slow to begin. Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight. A postrace veterinary examination revealed the filly to have sustained a laceration to the off-fore fetlock.

  • Bolshoi Devoushka – Prior to the declaration of weight, the Stewards identified from the inquiry room that rider App. J Innes Jr had struck his mount on 8 occasions prior to the 100m. When Stewards could not be satisfied that Bolshoi Devoushka had gained an advantage that resulted in it finishing in 3rd placing in the race, in accordance with AR168(2) they therefore declined to exercise their powers under AR137A(9) and did not proceed with a formal objection. App. J Innes Jr was fined $300 under AR137A(5)(a)(ii). Slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between I Wanna Be A Jeep and Red Knot, which shifted out.

RACE 6: J B Cummings Hall of Fame Handicap 2000m

  • My Psychiatrist – slow to begin. When questioned, App. D Panya stated that it was not her intention to lead on the mare today and if circumstances had permitted she intended to take a sit behind the anticipated leaders, Broadside and Be Like Dad. She said My Psychiatrist raced very keen in the early and middle stages and as a consequence she was obliged to lead on the mare. She added, having regard to the manner in which her mount raced in the event, it was left without a finishing effort and weakened noticeably over the final 200m. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
  • Diamond Made – jumped awkwardly.
  • Get On The Grange – jumped awkwardly. Making the home turn was held up for clear running as it endeavoured to obtain a run between Red Dubawi and Be Like Dad. Get On The Grange then shifted back to the inside of Be Like Dad soon after straightening.
  • Red Dubawi – raced wide without cover in the early stages of the race. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
  • Floodlight – raced wide without cover for the major part of the race. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
  • Mortar Platoon – rider T Berry stated his mount failed to handle the soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
  • Montauk – when questioned App. J Innes Jr stated that making the home turn he positioned his mount to take advantage of a run that had developed between My Psychiatrist and Be Like Dad. He said when My Psychiatrist gave ground quickly and Get On The Grange shifted in to take advantage of the same run, he was obliged to steady his mount when disappointed. He added Mountauk was then inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight and took some time to shift to the outside of Get On The Grange and Be Like Dad to secure clear running, whereby the gelding finished the race off well.

RACE 7: Winx Hall of Fame Handicap 1500m

  • So Willie – slow to begin. From its wide barrier was shifted in across behind runners in the early stages.
  • Ruling Dynasty – slow to begin.
  • Timeless Prince – near the 250m had to be steadied when disappointed for clear running between Foreign Prince and Falkenberg. Timeless Prince was then shifted back to the inside of Foreign Prince to obtain clear running. Near the 150m Timeless Prince then had to be steadied away from the heels of Believe when that runner shifted in and then did not obtain clear running until the final 100m.
  • Liapari – held up for clear running for some distance near the 200m.
  • Careless – passing the 100m was briefly tightened to the inside of Encosta Line when that runner shifted in away from Invinzabeel.
  • Foreign Prince – near the 100m had to be steadied when crowded between Falkenberg and Believe (App. A Adkins), which shifted out away from Timeless Prince. App. Adkins was reprimanded and advised he must stop riding and straighten his mounts when they commence to shift ground.
  • Believe – near the 50m had to be steadied when crowded between Falkenberg and Timeless Prince which, after improving to the outside of So Willie, was taken out by So Willie (T Berry) when that runner shifted out. Foreign Prince, which was following, was checked as a consequence. T Berry was reprimanded and advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare was galloped on to the near-hind leg.
  • Kellyville Flyer – raced wide without cover throughout.
  • Berry Delicious – when questioned regarding his riding out over the concluding stages, J Parr stated his mount was inclined to shift ground at that part of the race and, when he heard a call to his inside and thought he might have been crowding runners, he elected to stop riding his mount approaching the winning post. After viewing the patrol films, Stewards confirmed the explanation offered by J Parr.
  • Falkenberg – a post-race veterinary examination revealed mare to be displaying an abnormal respiratory noise and had been galloped on to the near-hind leg. Trainer Mr Peter Snowden advised that the mare has not had any history of respiratory issues in the past, however it had been identified that Falkenberg was getting its tongue back. He added as a result of this he applied a tongue tie to the mare's gear. Mr Snowden was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare being permitted to race again.
  • Alegria – when questioned regarding his riding, App. L Magorrian stated, with the mare coming back in distance from its last start in the Chairman's Handicap on 1 April 2017, he had anticipated settling back in the field. He said he had been instructed to ride the mare patiently and ensure he was not caught wide without cover. When questioned regarding his riding from the 700m, in particular whether there was an opportunity to shift to the outside of Iggi Pop to follow Ruling Dynasty, he said his mount was travelling well at this point, but having regard to the manner in which the race was being run, he made the decision to ride for luck and follow So Willie into the event. He said, after straightening when So Willie improved away from his mount, he continued to ride Alegria along, where it did not initially respond to his efforts. He said over the final 200m his mount commenced to finish the race off well, especially inside the last 100m where he was able to make ground on the leaders. App. Magorrian further added, as his mount in his opinion was doing its best to finish the race off, he did not ride it vigorously with the whip over the final 100m. Stewards advised App. Magorrian he had made an error of judgement and near the 600m he should have shifted to the outside of Iggi Pop to follow Ruling Dynasty three wide with cover, particularly bearing in mind the distance he was from the leaders. He was further advised that over the concluding stages his lack of vigour had come under notice and he would be expected to ride his mounts so as to leave no room for query. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 8: T J Smith Hall of Fame Handicap 1200m

  • Frill Seeking – bounded on jumping and lost ground. Steadied away from the heels of Mogador near the 800m. Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight, before being shifted to the inside of Reincarnate near the 250m.
  • Mogador – slow to begin. Overraced throughout the early and middle stages.
  • Guard Of Honour – slow to begin.
  • Final Decision – began awkwardly. Near the 800m was restrained away from the heels of Frill Seeking.
  • Reincarnate – raced in restricted room between Noble Joey and Butterboom for some distance near the 300m and was unable to be fully tested until passing the 200m.
  • Painte – raced wide without cover throughout.
  • Noble Joey – rider P Wells stated that he intended to lead on the gelding, but his mount failed to show its customary speed and consequently he was obliged to travel behind the leaders. He said his mount was unsuited by racing in this position and is better suited being able to dictate terms in front. A post-race veterinary examination revealed ..... Co-trainer Mr R Price concurred with the view of P Wells. He added that Noble Joey had pleased the stable leading up to today's race and he would contemplate stepping the colt up in distance so it may be able to lead in its future starts. Mr Price undertook to report back to the Stewards on the progress of Noble Joey subsequent to the race.

RACE 9: Light Fingers Hall of Fame Handicap 1400m

  • In A Wink- dislodged its rider whilst proceeding to the barriers and galloped a considerable distance before being recaptured, and was a late withdrawal by order of the Stewards at 4.21pm. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies wagered on In A Wink be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers all successful wagers made prior to 4.21pm to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1st) Dagny less 1ȼ win and 1ȼ place 2nd) Labdien less 2ȼ place 3rd) Wahng Wah less 2ȼ place
  • Firebird Flyer – the start was delayed when the mare was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. before being assisted by the Clerk of the Course As the start was effected the mare refused to jump, lowered its head and App. B McDougall was subsequently dislodged. Firebird Flyer then completed the course riderless. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare displayed tachyardia. Trainer's representative Mr C Duckworth was advised that Firebird Flyer must perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official trial and must be ridden by a senior rider in its future starts/trial in the short term, and they must submit a veterinary clearance prior to barrier trialling.
  • Chloe's Comet – raced wide without cover throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare aggravated a speedy cut to the off-hind fetlock.
  • Anisha – when questioned regarding the mare being ridden forward, J Parr stated he was not issued any specific instructions as to where to position his mount, other than to have it race where comfortable. He said, as Anisha has a tendency to be slow to begin, he had anticipated racing towards the rear of the field. He added when his mount commenced better than expected today and when a number of runners to his inside held a midfield position, he elected to make use of the start and consequently rode forward in an endeavour to cross runners to his inside. J Parr further stated that when the tempo of the race remained strong throughout the early and middle stages and a number of runners held their positions, he was unable to cross those runners to his inside and as a consequence was obliged to race four wide without cover for the majority of the event. He added, as he considered he had already made some use of his mount to take up a forward position and when the tempo remained strong he felt it was not in his best interests to ride forward and cross to take up a position closer to the running rail. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying the thumps. Trainer M Newnham said that it was his intention to have the mare ridden quietly from its wide barrier. He added that, whilst he was disappointed to see the horse as far forward as it was today, he attributed the mare weakening in the run home mainly due to the excessive ground it was obliged to cover.
  • Rustic Melody – a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
