Analyst Team - Points of Interest

RACE 1: TAB Rewards Plate 1200m

Dane Slugger

"Raced wide without cover throughout and taken wider rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a fresh speedy cut to the off-hind pastern." Racing NSW Stewards

"This was a positive Bowman ride gone wrong. Nothing went right from the time the gates opened, he tried to go forward, then the horse over-raced when restrained. Forgive." The Race Guide Analyst Team

RACE 5: December Handicap 1550m

Oriental Lady

"Over the final stages was held up on the heels of Black Jag, which shifted out slightly." Racing NSW Stewards

"It seems as though she has muscled up a bit this preparation after looking very lean last time in. She mixed it with the big boys and didn't have much luck. One to keep an eye on." The Race Guide Analyst Team

Biloxi

"At the request of rider J Ford, was examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer on arrival at the barriers and passed fit to start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had lost its near-fore plate in running and was lame in both forelegs on cooling down after the race. Trainer Mr R Worthington was advised a veterinary clearance would be required before Biloxi starting again." Racing NSW Stewards

"This galloper is marked out as being one tough customer. He didn't finish off over the unsuitable 1550m, but the fact he put in such an effort when lame says it all. Very reliable." The Race Guide Analyst Team

RACE 6: Canterbury Classic (Listed) 1200m

Fare Well

"Knuckled over on jumping away. Was hampered rounding the home turn when awkwardly place on the heels of Driefontein, which shifted out after being brushed by Miniature." Racing NSW Stewards

"She just wasn't in the right race. Struggled around the tight turn, was checked and just couldn't power home with the others. Still looked well in the yard and can do better." The Race Guide Analyst Team

Cradle Me

"Was severely checked inside the 100m when disappointed for a run between Miniature and That’s A Good Idea, which shifted out when commencing to give ground." Racing NSW Stewards

"She did enough to suggest there is more to give this preparation. Young Brodie Loy drove her up the back of a few parked cars, perhaps could have snuck fourth." The Race Guide Analyst Team

RACE 7: TAB.COM.AU Handicap 1100m

Earnest Ernest

"Jumped away awkwardly and shortly afterwards dipped when it clipped the heels of Terra Amata, which shifted out. Overraced in the early and middle stages." Racing NSW Stewards

"He has got his tricks still this old boy. Didn't do much right this time. Don't be surprised if he gets a couple of placings in good races this preparation." The Race Guide Analyst Team

RACE 8: More Than Ready Handicap 1900m

Best Of The Rest

"Slow to begin. Shortly after straightening made contact with the hindquarter of Palasport and had to be checked when disappointed for a run where there was not sufficient room between Palasport and Monticello, which was commencing to give ground. J Collett was told to ensure there is sufficient room when endeavouring to improve his position in future." Racing NSW Stewards

"This gelding got the right run in transit and was making ground before getting the door shut in his face. Unlucky." The Race Guide Analyst Team

Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies wagered on Mr Humphries be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers all successful wagers made prior to 1.03pm to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: (1st) Perignon less 5c win and 5c place, (2nd) Look To The Stars less 7c place, (3rd) Racy less 7c place. Mr S Kavanagh, representing trainer Mr D O’Brien, was advised Mr Humphries must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

B Shinn stated, after having to be replated, I Am Zelady reared once placed in its stall, then when the gates were released was laying on the near-side of its stall, jumped awkwardly and missed the start. When questioned, after missing the start, why he had then gone forward, B Shinn stated that the early pace, in his opinion, was slow and he did not feel it was in the best interests of his mount to settle at the rear of the field behind Uratta Belle in a slowly run race. He added, whilst he had to make a little use of I Am Zelady when the pace quickened, as he improved around Music Magnate, nevertheless he was able to take up a position and race at the girth of the leader, Inz’N’Out. Trainer Mr S Kavanagh was reprimanded under AR140(a)(ii)(a) for failing to notify the Stewards that I Am Zelady had to be treated for swelling, which had developed in its hind legs, whereby the filly had missed a gallop and was withdrawn from its engagement at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 13 December 2014.
