New Year Racing

Ready to shine - De Little Engine is a popular New Year's Day runner

A great card of racing at Flemington highlights a big day of racing Australia-wide. Meetings take place everywhere from Gundagai and Hanging Rock, to Darwin and Ascot. The King Island Racing Club even mustered 31 acceptances across five races for one of Australia's smallest race meetings off the coast of Tasmania.

The feature races at Flemington are the Group 3 1200 metre Standish Handicap, where Reparations will be trying to repeat his impressive Melbourne Cup day win, and the 2800 metre Bagot Handicap, with young stayer De Little Engine ready to shine again.

Royal Randwick hosts the Tattersalls Club Cup meeting and a full Race Guide is on-line for the main race over 2400 metres.

Happy New Year and good punting from all The Race Guide team!
