Randwick Track Update

Published: 05 Jul 2018

Rail: +9 metres

Conditions (forecast): SOFT 7

Bias (forecast): FAIR, possible OUT WIDE later races

The Royal Randwick track isn't expected to dry much and we should have a SOFT track on Saturday with the rail out +9m. The bias is hard to predict with this set-up, back on 20th Jan when the rail was +8m there was an ON-PACE and NEAR RAILS bias but given there has been some racing on the wet recently they could get out wider looking for better ground. We're expecting a pretty FAIR track for the most part, which was often the case when the rail was out +9m last year.

  • 23rd June (+6m rail, HEAVY) when jockeys preferred ground OFF RAILS (2W+), but not wide out
  • 9th June (+3m rail, HEAVY) when track was FAIR, little bit inside lane near pace early races
  • 26th May (TRUE rail, GOOD) when track had the edge off and was FAIR
  • 21st April (+6m rail, GOOD) when track was FAIR, slight preference near pace inside
  • 14th April (+3m rail, GOOD) when track was FAIR, wind meant cover helped
  • 7th April (TRUE rail, GOOD, raced as firm track) when track was FAIR
  • 10th March (+6m rail, GOOD, raced as firm track) when track was FAIR, slight advantage near pace
  • 3rd March (+3m, SOFT, bit sticky) when there was an OFF RAILS bias
  • 17th Feb (TRUE rail, GOOD) when track was FAIR
  • 20th Jan (+8m, GOOD) when ON-PACE and NEAR RAILS bias
  • 13th Jan (+4m, GOOD) when track was FAIR
