Saturday Track Conditions

Published: 13 Feb 2015

A fresh new layer of turf at Caulfield will be tested by Melbourne's first Group One of the season, the C.F. Orr Stakes. Heavy rain overnight and this morning, alongside significant irrigation during a hot week is sure to make the race club nervous.

Lets hope the track races well.

In Sydney, Royal Randwick is the venue for Apollo Stakes day. Some rain during the week has the track rated as a Good 4. As usual after midweek rain, expect an Off Rails Bias with better ground higher up the camber.

The 'edge' off the track will help to bring tougher and more athletic gallopers into their races. Types that don't perform at their best when the track is fast (e.g. Countryman)
