Top 5 Early Insights @ Rosehill Gardens

Published: 26 Mar 2015

Back to the winner's stall? - Leebaz looms as a big threat this weekend

The full Race Guides for the last day of the Rosehill Gardens Carnival will be on-line Friday at 8am, including Form, Comments and The Race Guide's Profiler for each galloper.

Getting the edge is what it is all about, helping you to know if your horse is the right one for the conditions on the day.

Until then, The Race Guide's Analyst team have listed their Top 5 Early Insights.

1 - A Perfect Fit for Hawkes

The Doncaster Prelude has a compressed weight scale due to the conditions of the race, which favours the classier gallopers.

Add to the mix a possible lack of pressure and the free-striding LEEBAZ looks like he has found his perfect race.

Found the right race - The Hawkes team have placed Leebaz well

2 - Only the 'Cat' Can Pounce?

CATKINS is a much-loved grey mare that goes around at short odds again in the Emancipation Stakes, but is she value?

Well if you look at the lack of a genuine turn-of-foot in the rest of the field, there isn't much risk one of the roughies will get a break on her.

Unless the speed is very strong, only MADAM GANGSTER seems a likely challenger when the whips get cracking.

Ready to pounce - Catkins is a short-priced favourite at Rosehill

3 - First Challenge

The very classy FIRST SEAL dominated against the fillies two starts ago before running very bravely against the older mares in the Coolmore Classic.

Back to fillies grade in the Vinery Stud Stakes, can anything beat her?

You don't have to look too far back in her form to find one that can...

Waterhouse's Zabeel filly ADRIFT took the prized scalp of the favourite first-up and 2,000 metres suits even better.

Done it all before - Adrift beats First Seal over 1,200 metres at Randwick

4 - Bomb-proof Japanese Raider

Japanese raider TO THE WORLD has got the full package. A galloper with class, good early speed and a rapid turn-of-foot is always hard to beat.

If he's fit enough, he might simply be too good in The BMW.

5 - Trouble in Waller's World?

Waller is great at getting his older gallopers to race well at the top level, but he's got a few going around in Race 9 this weekend that are due for a win.

FORETELLER, HAWKSPUR and especially JUNOOB and OUR VOODOO PRINCE are all under notice, they may not have many wins left in them.

Due for a win - Foreteller is one of four Waller gallopers in Race 9
