Top 5 Early Insights @ Doomben & Rosehill

Published: 07 May 2015

The moment has arrived? - In-form mare Intimate Moment looms as a big chance this weekend

The full Race Guides for a big ten-race card at Rosehill Gardens will be on-line Friday from 9am, including Form, Comments and The Race Guide's Profiler for each galloper.

Getting the edge is what it is all about, helping you to know if your horse is the right one for the conditions on the day.

Until then, The Race Guide's Analyst team have listed their Top 5 Early Insights for Brisbane and Sydney.

1 - Can Stay

The win of LEEBAZ in the Hollindale Stakes was very impressive.

He's been 'one-paced' this preparation, but that didn't matter when the pressure was on early at the Gold Coast.

Most horses would have dropped off in the straight after all the early work - not this son of Zabeel though. The long-striding Hawkes galloper just kept lifting.

They're going to have a tough job wearing him down on Saturday.

Sticks on - Leebaz showed great stamina last start

2 - Popular Boy

Everyone loves OUR BOY MALACHI!

And it's hard not to. He's a sprinter with power, speed and the heart of a lion.

But there's no doubt the BTC Cup this Saturday is his biggest test by far. Smart sprinters like TEMPLE OF BOOM, TRUST IN A GUST, FONTELINA and SRIKANDI make the $2.90 on offer in early markets look very short.

Can compete - Fontelina is a worthy competitor for Our Boy Malachi

3 - Keep the Sun Shining

The forecast in Sydney is for sustained sunny spells, so we might get the better side of Soft on Saturday. A Good 4 isn't completely out of reach either if the morning dews aren't too thick.

Most of us are happy with that, but it's not good news for a big group of 'wet-trackers' in the Lord Mayors Cup.

Horses like MALICE and INTIMATE MOMENT will be well-supported if the sun keeps shining.

Loves the sun - Malice (outside) sprints best on a dry track

4 - Biased Randwick

Don't forget the (very!) strong bias at Randwick two weeks ago when checking the form for Sydney.

Horses like RELIGIFY, MARWOOD, INTIMATE MOMENT and ABBASSO didn't get to the the fast lane out wide, while others such as SENSE OF OCCASION and HOLLYWOOD BOUND scooted down the outside rail.

A fair go this time? - Religify had track bias against him at Randwick

5 - Home Helps

The tough, genuine and athletic filly PRESS REPORT gets an important factor in her favour this weekend.

After racing at Royal Randwick her last two starts, a track she hasn't had much success at, the Lee Curtis trained sprinter returns to her favoured home course.

She's got great cruising speed and could find the box seat from barrier 3.

Rosehill is better - Press Report could find a couple of lengths this weekend
