  • Good Project – kicked out in the tie-up stalls with its near-hind leg and was passed fit to start, after being inspected by the Club's Veterinary Officer.
  • Berry Delicious – on return to scale an objection was lodged by J Collett, rider of equal 2nd placegetter, Berry Delicious, against the other equal 2nd placegetter, Good Project (App. B Loy), alleging interference over the final 75m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the videos, the Stewards found that passing the 100m Berry Delicious commenced to improve into a narrow run between Good Project and Mohave. Following contact between the off shoulder of Berry Delicious and the hindquarter of Mohave, Mohave shifted out, which resulted in Berry Delicious being hampered and taken out onto Good Project. Following this incident, Berry Delicious then was directed in slightly by Good Project, which was racing to the inside of Kaepernick, which also was shifting in. In dismissing the objection, the Stewards found that the interference approaching the 70m mark was attributable to a shift out from Mohave.
  • Mr Manhattan – rider J Cassidy stated his mount travelled nicely in the lead, even though not fully comfortable in the soft ground. He added that nevertheless Mr Manhattan was most disappointing in that it weakened quickly when placed under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. He undertook to report back to the Stewards if there are any abnormalities subsequent to the race.

A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Mr Cummings added that, in his opinion, the gelding will be suited by additional journey and will take benefit from today's run. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any lameness, but revealed healing abrasions above the off-side eye and near-fore cannon. Mr Cummings explained it had incurred superficial abrasions in an incident on the walking machine on Monday, 4 May 2015, but had missed no work and had been inspected by the stable veterinarian. Mr Cummings was reprimanded under AR140(a) for having failed to report a condition.

Trainer Mr J O'Shea stated that Medcaut does not handle the wet track and, whilst it is his intention to press on to race at the Scone carnival next week, he will be mindful of track conditions. He undertook to report if there is anything amiss with the gelding subsequent to the race. Rider T Clark was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer Mr J Pride indicated that it had been his intention to proceed to a Queensland campaign, however, the gelding was most disappointing and was a beaten horse prior to the home turn. When questioned as to why he did not come back to the inside and follow up Calming Influence, S Clipperton stated he was awkwardly placed close to the heels of Vergara and would have risked clipping that horse's heels had he attempted to make that manoeuvre. He added that then over the latter stages he was still held up behind other runners and unable to fully test his mount at any point in the straight.

Stewards in the saddling area detected that the saddles of J Collett (Calming Influence) and J Parr (Mamwaazel) had been placed on the incorrect horses. Mr Muscutt was told the stable must review its saddling practices, as having multiple runners is a common occurrence for the Waller stable.

RACE 8: Fujitsu Air Lord Mayors Cup (Listed) 2000m

  • Double Bluff - which had to be replated behind the gates to the near-side front, was inspected by the Club's Veterinary Officer and passed fit to start. • Bagman – slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer Mr L Curtis stated that Press Report has been consistent and it is now his intention to spell the filly. He undertook to report back to the Stewards the results of a vet check subsequent to the race.
  • Zizumba – rider J Parr stated he came out of the barrier quietly on the gelding and endeavoured to cross and look for a trail, but was unable to restrain back behind the heels of Federal. He said, as a result, Zizumba then took charge and ran wide throughout the middle stages. He added, in his view, Zizumba would be better suited over a 1000m journey, where there is more speed and it is able to take up a position with cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Stable representative Mr E Cummings stated that they had stepped the gelding up in distance today, as it had raced more tractably in its two recent starts. He was told Zizumba would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
