The Alfonso’s power ready to kick in

The Alfonso - clearly more powerful than his competitors last start

The main feature races of the day this weekend at Royal Randwick include some very smart horses as they get primed for the Spring Carnival. These key events are famously tricky betting propositions though, as even trainers keep their fingers crossed hoping their gallopers have returned well.

The rest of the card continues on with the off-season events and they look to lack depth, with some good betting propositions.

The Race Guide analyst team have identified an early one to have a look at in markets when the bookies put down their price. The Alfonso, trained by Chris Waller, paraded in beautiful fashion last start and it was clear he was a sprinter/miler type up against some stayers in that event. He has some power in his frame and proved that with a rapid burst of speed from the back off a slow tempo, finishing third behind Tarangower and Pajaro.

Earlier in his campaign he was able to win two starts in a row at the mile. The distance he races at again this Saturday.
