Midweek Racing @ Newcastle

The Race Guide covers the ATC and key Melbourne racing club events so we don't have the Form Guides up for today's Newcastle meeting, but the Analyst Team have still done the form! Previews for the big two Newcastle Races are provided below.

Race 6 - 4:15PM STRATHAYR NEWCASTLE NEWMARKET HANDICAP 1350m

There's some early spice in this race! BULL POINT comes off another impressive trial win and is expected to be ridden aggressively, while AOMEN shows speed fresh too. ECUADOR will be camped just off them chasing hard. That scenario could suit Waterhouse's tough on-pacer ECUADOR, who did enough first-up when 6th to Holler on a very firm track that didn't suit. AMOVATIO is another good each-way chance sprinting from just off the pace. Snowden's mares ARTISTRY and NANCY provide an interesting addition, both out of the weight scale, but talented in their own right. Perhaps ARTISTRY is destined for bigger things (she's a nice type!), she could surprise and measure up.

Race 7 - 4:55PM THE PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFIER 1350m

The Set Weights of this event help us to pick the winner, classier types POWERLINE and MARPLE MISS are very well placed, while MAGIC OF DREAMS and HETTY HEIGHTS shape as the other key chances. MARPLE MISS gets the services off James Mac and did enough first-up over 1100m to prepare her for a much more suitable distance today. MAGIC OF DREAMS was just infront of her that day and has an each-way hope (distance suits MARPLE MISS better?). HETTY HEIGHTS is the big threat after an impressive first-up win. Kim Waugh is flying!
