Yankee's Bridesmaid

Popular favourite - Yankee Rose parading before the Sires' Produce Stakes

The Group One Champagne markets are dominated by YANKEE ROSE, and rightly so, after running 2nd in the Golden Slipper and winning the Sires' by a widening margin.

CrownBet are offering $1.5 for the talented daughter of All American. That's probably still value if Vandyke has her fit on the day, but most of us will be playing the multiples in search of a bigger payout.

So the big question is - who will come second?

The Contenders

PRIZED ICON

"Proven at the mile after last week's win in the Fernhill, but that is a class below this level. His tactical speed could give him an edge on others, making him a contender in the race for 2nd."

EL SICARIO

"Big striding Kiwi with lots to learn and plenty of stamina. Hard to line up the form, he could be a pretty risky horse to support."

OBSCURA

"Has shown stamina in two runs, storming home out wide at Rosehill in latest effort. Ridden by the best jockey and drawn the inside barrier. A lot to like."

DIVINE PROPHET

"Well-bred and the form out of his Maiden win looks good. There has to be a risk everything is not 100% though coming into this race second-up. Hardly a sure thing."

FARAWAY TOWN

"She's had a crack at beating YANKEE ROSE and was placed both times before. Importantly, the step up to 1,600 metres seems ideal and she handles the testing Randwick track."

The Verdict

After competition from PRIZED ICON and OBSCURA, FARAWAY TOWN is the better bridesmaid!
