Top 5 Early Insights

Magic blinkers - Casino Dancer has been a different horse since the gear change was applied

A massive weekend of racing across the country kicks off early with the running of the Scone Cup tomorrow. Italian Derby winner GOLDSTREAM takes on the dairy-farmer's horse from Hawkesbury CASINO DANCER and Central Coast hero MIGHTY LUCKY in a closely-fought handicap.

And on Saturday, Brisbane and Adelaide host Group One action with the running of the BTC Cup and Derby. Plenty of Sydney and Melbourne-based gallopers have made the trip north or west and they dominate the markets.

Ahead of The Race Guides going online tomorrow morning, the Analyst Team list their Top 5 Early Insights.

No. 1 Place Market Value

The bookies are a little lazy when it comes to place markets, they just apply a percentage to the 'win price' and that's the job done!

It doesn't take a racing analyst to work out that some horses are more reliable than others and they're the ones you want to aim up on when the price is right.

The Analyst Team have spotted two on the weekend that fit the profile, in the Scone Cup (Race 6 Friday) and Doomben's BTC Cup.

Bet on CASINO DANCER to place at $3.4 and DORTHRAKI to place at $4

No. 2 Shifty Hawkesbury

The north-west Sydney track had a few tricks two weeks ago and we're relying on those form-lines to measure up many of the Scone contenders. Tread carefully and factor in the bias from that day (inside ground slower) and you should come out on top.

No. 3 Weighted to Win

Some of the handicaps at Scone have a 'squeezed' weight scale, which means some of the lesser horses are stuck on the minimum weight when in fact they should be getting much more relief.

SPILL THE BEANS in Race 5, FEDERAL in Race 6, KURO in Race 8 and BROOK ROAD also in Race 8 are weighted to win.

Bet on BROOK ROAD now at $8.5

No. 4 Weir's Warrnambool Run

Darren Weir is coming off a big Warrnambool Carnival as usual, which bodes well for this weekend at Caulfield. At the corresponding meeting last year he had four runners and all placed at good odds.

Three of the four had come off a Warrnambool run, including Unfurl, who won at Caulfield paying $15!

No. 5 Stable to Follow

Mick Kent is another stable to follow right now. At the time of writing, 14 out of his last 50 runners had won and his impressive 3yo New Approach Colt CHARLEVOIX was a strong favourite for the South Australian Derby.

It will take a very good horse to beat him on Saturday.

Bet on CHARLEVOIX now at $3.6
