Top 5 Early Insights

Big powerful mare - Wine Tales returns to the track this weekend in Sydney following surgery

Watching Eagle Farm last weekend was like watching a track "knock-up" after about six races. The new surface couldn't handle the heavy rain followed by big fields of gallopers, the inside lanes becoming a sandpit for most of the Group One features.

Understandable, but unfortunate, it left a sour taste in the mouth of many punters, owners and trainers.

The good news is track conditions are easier to predict this weekend at Rosehill, Moonee Valley and Ipswich. The tight-turns of the south-west Brisbane track presents a new challenge for the Queensland Carnival gallopers.

Ahead of The Race Guides going on-line tomorrow morning, the Analyst Team's Top 5 Insights are listed below.

No. 1 On The Drink

Tipping the much-maligned WINE TALES, a winner of just 2 race from 19 starts, needs a good case to support it.

She's one of only four horses that have claimed in the race on Saturday, giving her a relatively good weight in a small field, and her best ratings are simply superior to the rest.

That form rating isn't a small gap, the ratings from our team have her a couple of lengths in front!

Bet on WINE TALES now at $7.5

No. 2 The Ultimate Pro

Getting around the tight turns in the Ipswich Cup won't be an easy job, but the favourite MAURUS is the perfect horse to handle it. He's a very professional galloper that settles beautifully and cruises around tight turns like he's on rails.

He'll be very hard to beat in the feature.

Bet on MAURUS now at $2.45

No. 3 White Line Fever

Rugby fans will know what the term means, a player that gets to the line and then something goes wrong every time.

Race 7 at Rosehill Gardens has two horses with a similar affliction, RYKER (27 starts 2 wins 8 places) and INVINZABEEL (19 starts 2 wins 9 places) both grind away and find one or two better most of the time.

That leaves the door open for MAGICAL STANCE and KELLYVILLE FLYER to back-up on their impressive runs last time out.

Bet on MAGICAL STANCE at $5.5 and KELLYVILLE FLYER at $6

No. 4 International Class

Some of the best gallopers in the world are racing at Royal Ascot in England this week and there is a touch of international class at Moonee Valley too.

Robert Hickmott brings new import ALMANDIN to the track for a local debut alongside the already proven stable-mate CHANCE TO DANCE.

Their form-lines put them right in the race at surprisingly good odds.

Bet on ALMANDIN at $11 and CHANCE TO DANCE at $6.5

No. 5 Following the Freeze

There will be a few gallopers jostling for 'position A' in the last race at Rosehill Gardens. FREEZE THE CHARGES is expected to charge along as usual at the front, leaving a nice trailing position to the horse that can find her back.

PAINTE had it last start, the speedy ADJECTIVE and ELEMENOHPEE two that could get it this time.

Getting a nice tow into the race could make the difference.

Bet on ADJECTIVE at $23 and ELEMENOHPEE at $5.5
