Yard to the Post - Rosehill Gardens

Race Day: Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, 15 November 2014

Blake Shinn stole the show today at Rosehill Gardens riding half the card in yet another masterful display of his riding prowess as he chose to stay in Sydney to focus on the jockey's premiership rather than heading south of the border.

On a day when jockeys tended to fan off the rails, most winners were found down that corridor with the rail out 3m, yet the track played pretty fair all around with some placegetters coming along the inside as well.

Shinn’s quartet began with Church Boy showing his class in the Cellarbrations The Grange Wyoming Handicap (1500m) before Dothraki powered down the middle of the track to give him a double in the Cellarbrations Whyte & Gilmour Handicap (1100m).

His ride on Heart Testa was full of merit as he nursed him before sprinting clear giving the hoop a treble before he piloted Vashka for team Godolphin which made it four in the Cellarbrations In The Hills Handicap. Vashka’s win also gave his trainer John O’Shea a winning treble.

Win of the day went to the resurgent now gelding Dothraki which came thundering down the centre of the track unleashing a powerful sprint when ridden quieter.

In other races, Snow White did everything right while Malice continues to improve. Mesmereyeser rouned out the quaddie legs with a last bound victory while Peter and Paul Snowden saluted with the shortest priced favourite of the day in Paceman.

A race-by-race analysis of the day is provided from the mounting yard to the finish. The complete guide from your team at the track.

The Result

PACE MAN (1st) sprinted quickly beating RIGHT OF WAY (2nd) and PHILOSOPHY (3rd).

The Interest

PACE MAN was dominant here after being restrained and pulled early then cantered up to his opposition and blew them away quickly. RIGHT OF WAY also quickened well to hold second and will be targeted towards the Magic Millions. Tommy Berry copped a four meeting suspension for careless riding for his ride on RIGHT OF WAY. Follow PACE MAN.

Race 2 CELLARBRATIONS BLACKTOWN HANDICAP

A well bred filly does everything right

Place Silk Horse Trainer Jockey Gate Kgs
1 Snow White John O'Shea Sam Clipperton 4 56.5
2 Montrer Dame Paul Perry Tommy Berry 2 54.5
3 I Am Zelady Phillip Stokes Jason Collett 7 57.0

In The Yard

LUCY'S LOOK has come on again. I AM ZELADY has improved from first up run. SNOW WHITE calmed on way to barriers. No knock on the others.

In The Running

HOUSE OF HINGIS led out from SNOW WHITE at a SLOW TEMPO with MONTRER DAME and PRINCESS COMMAND in behind.. I AM ZELADY missed start 2L.

The Result

I AM ZELADY (3rd) ran home well after missing the start badly. The beautifully bred SNOW WHITE (1st) hit the front a long way out after enjoying a cosy run on the pace, while MONTRER DAME (2nd) was close up after she copped some buffeting from I AM ZELADY up the straight and successfully protested the case.

The Interest

The heavily backed I AM ZELADY $3.20-$2.60 kept the cash in the bookies pockets here and was a good thing beaten. They ran home in 33.9 and she did a good job to get close enough. SNOW WHITE needs to strengthen up now and will have a break after making the necessary progression going into next Autumn. MONTRER DAME fought well to line however opinions divided as to whether she would have beaten home I AM ZELADY. Forgive I AM ZELADY.

Race 3 CELLARBRATIONS THE GRANGE WYOMING HANDICAP

Church comes early for Vandyke

Place Silk Horse Trainer Jockey Gate Kgs
1 Church Boy David Vandyke Blake Shinn 6 58.0
2 Abbasso Chris Waller Tye Angland 7 58.0
3 She's a Girl Jim Litt Sam Clipperton 1 54.0

In The Yard

ABASSO strips a little fitter and has been slow coming on this prep. CHURCH BOY very relaxed and coat glowing. MORAL VICTORY looked well. FRESPANOL fit.

In The Running

KAZOOM made a move to go up and challenge MORAL VICTORY who was initially urged forward out of the gates setting an EVEN TEMPO while CHURCH BOY and SHE'S A GIRL settled in behind the speed.

The Result

Again the riders left the fence as they turned and CHURCH BOY (1st) strode down the centre to score well to win from ABASSO (2nd) who stuck to the rails to stick his head out on the line from SHE'S A GIRL (3rd) and KAZOOM in a bobbing duel for the placegetters.

The Interest

CHURCH BOY had a late rally in the betting ring from $2.70 to $2.45 and made it four in a row here after being well ridden. He appeared to hit a flat spot about the 250m but dug deep to find the line well and win convincingly. FRESPANOL got a bit further back and received a bump early in the straight which may have impacted his performance. SHE'S A GIRL and KAZOOM stuck on well. MORAL VICTORY was solid in betting and knocked up badly while GANGSTER'S CHOICE just does not look like he is enjoying his racing. Follow CHURCH BOY.

Race 4 CELLARBRATIONS WHYTE & GILMOUR HANDICAP

DOTHRAKI sprints best for dominant win

Place Silk Horse Trainer Jockey Gate Kgs
1 Dothraki Peter & Paul Snowden Blake Shinn 9 60.0
2 Goldstone Robert Davies Ms Winona Costin 4 54.0
3 Agent Craig Weeding Taylor Marshall 2 54.0

In The Yard

DOTHRAKI still holding some condition as well as TITLE and GOLDSTONE. DIDNTCOSTALOT appeared fit. GREEN BERET paraded well while AGENT was relaxed.

The Result

DOTHRAKI (1st) made a swooping run from the rear and sprinted best to beat GOLDSTONE (2nd) and AGENT (3rd) who stuck to rails in the straight.

The Interest

DOTHRAKI recaptured his sprinting best back to 1100m and put away his rivals with ease today. Gelding this horse and riding him quietly seems the key to unlocking his potential. GREEN BERET was heavily backed from $2.5-2.3 and may have lost a little zip from his tough first up run and the dry track may not have been in his favour today, however was given every possible chance. GOLDSTONE was a big performance second up while AGENT was specked late in the market and stuck on well along the rails. Follow DOTHRAKI.

Race 5 CELLARBRATIONS@VALENTINE HANDICAP

A tough and gritty win to Malice

Place Silk Horse Trainer Jockey Gate Kgs
1 Malice John O'Shea Sam Clipperton 3 54.0
2 Midsummer Sun Sam Kavanagh Tye Angland 6 57.0
3 Permit Chris Waller Hugh Bowman 8 59.5

In The Yard

MIDSUMMER SUN relaxed, BEYOND THANKFUL looked well and MALICE paraded well. LUCKY CHAPPY looked fit.

In The Running

YVES KLEIN BLUE led out from LUCKY CHAPPY with PERMIT taking the sit and BEYOND THANKFUL on the rail at a STOP START TEMPO.

The Result

MALICE (1st) dug deep in the final stages to just outlast MIDSUMMER SUN who finished well from the rear with PERMIT (3rd) boxing on all the way up the straight.

The Interest

MALICE was well backed late from $2.70-$2.50 and Sammy Clipperton got the best out of the gelding as he found plenty the whole way up the straight. Be mindful here that the 1900m definitely saw him out. MIDSUMMER SUN was another supported runner and ran on well from the rear to just miss. The often enigmatic PERMIT was strong first up and the well backed BEYOND THANKFUL was well backed and held up at a vital stage in the straight and finished just in behind. Follow MALICE up to 1900m.

Race 6 CELLARBRATIONS KINGSWOOD PARK HANDICAP

HEART TESTA steps it up

Place Silk Horse Trainer Jockey Gate Kgs
1 Heart Testa Matthew Smith Hugh Bowman 8 57.5
2 Mouro Tony & Calvin McEvoy Mr Lester Grace 1 62.0
3 King Cobia Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Tommy Berry 2 54.0

In The Yard

MOURO and SCREAM MACHINE carried condition. KEEP COOL didn't appear fit enough. HEART TESTA and YOU'LL NEVER appeared relaxed. BOSS LANE appeared fit.

In The Running

ROAD TO SUMMER ran clear from HEART TESTA at a GOOD TEMPO with KING COBIA in behind the pace

The Result

HEART TESTA (1st) kicked clear to win well from MOURO (2nd) who returned with a nice run and KING COBIA (3rd) who stuck on well.

The Interest

Blake Shinn took advantage of the late pickup ride and summed up the race perfectly as he nursed HEART TESTA to the 300m then kicked clear in the run to the line. He was left in front a long way from home but showed superior fight in the run to the line. MOURO returned in great order and KING COBIA tried all the way up the straight. BOSS LANE again showed his was not suited to the Rosehill track while YOU'LL NEVER was heavily backed and was doing his best work late but just got too far out of his ground today. Follow HEART TESTA and MOURO. Forgive YOU'LL NEVER.

Race 7 CELLARBRATIONS IN THE HILLS HANDICAP

In The Yard

WINSOMEMORE was hot early then had Joe Pride keeping him relaxed. NISROC looked fit. COMMANDING WIT and VASHKA appeared relaxed.

In The Running

WINSOMEMORE jumped to the lead from VASHKA on his outside at an EVEN TEMPO with O'REILLY'S REVENGE posted on a wide run and FIREBALL taking the sit. TABLEAUX missed start (2L)

The Result

VASHKA (1st) dashed to the lead in the straight and found plenty in the run to the line to beat COMMANDING WIT (2nd) which burst out of the pack to give chase with NISROC (3rd) running on into the placings after a wide run.

The Interest

VASHKA seems a nice, progressive horse and appeared fit and ran accordingly. The well backed COMMANDING WIT copped a squeeze at a vital stage in the straight but lapped up this distance this time in as she chased home the winner. NISROC made up good ground after a wide run albeit with cover. O'REILLY'S REVENGE was specked at odds $14-$8 but endured a torrid run while MASTERSTROKE came late along the rails. Follow VASHKA

Race 8 BACARDI UNTAMEABLE HANDICAP

Clark saves it to the last bound

Place Silk Horse Trainer Jockey Gate Kgs
1 Mesmereyeser Joseph Pride Tim Clark 10 54.5

3 Vanilla Princess Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Ms Winona Costin 12 54.0

In The Yard

MESMEREYESER is a big, strong mare and looked fit. VANILLA PRINCESS appears to have come on. CHATHAM HOUSE very relaxed.

In The Running

VANILLA PRINCESS kicked out at an EVEN TEMPO to lead SUNDAY TOO FAR with MISS TENPINS in behind with MESMEREYESER. MAMWAAZEEL missed the start (1L).

The Result

MESMEREYESER (1st) got there in the final bound to defeat MISS TENPINS (2nd) with VANILLA PRINCESS (3rd) boxing on well.

The Interest

MESMEREYESER resumed here off a good trial and saved it all for the last bound to score and the blinkers may have switched her on today and will pay to follow while fresh and in this grade. She was at her best today and VANILLA PRINCESS had it all her own way in the running and boxed on well after again stepping up in grade. MISS TENPINS positioned up a little bit closer today and run was full of merit. COMMAND MORE weaved a passage and hit the line hard. Follow MESMEREYESER, MISS TENPINS and COMMAND MORE Forgive MAMWAAZEEL.
