Big boys come to town - Astern comes to Melbourne to take on the pint-sized speedster Extreme Choice
The Flemington carnival is just two sleeps away now, four big meetings chock-full of Group One action highlighted by the Melbourne Cup next Tuesday.
It's Derby Day on Saturday and the betting action has already been fast and furious. SACRED ELIXIR smashed in markets to win the feature, while big bets have also come for EXTREME CHOICE to beat Golden Rose winner ASTERN in an epic renewal of the Coolmore Stud Stakes.

"The form-lines suggest ASTERN and STAR TURN have a one to two length advantage over EXTREME CHOICE this weekend, the line through Fell Swoop and Chautauqua and time ratings helps to line them up. Given the compact speedster EXTREME CHOICE is not an obvious 'Flemington horse' either, there's seems like more value in the Sydney-siders."

"There are a lot of form-lines to pick through for the Derby, but it's hard to go past the lead-up Vase from seven days ago. SACRED ELIXIR was dominant, MORVADA showed improvement up in distance and don't dismiss PRIZED ICON either, who never looked comfortable around the tight track."
