Race Day: Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, 08 December 2018
Firm dry ground made for an exciting day of racing at Rosehill Gardens today, a few promising types getting the job done on a warm day in Sydney's west.
BON AMIS (picture) put together back-to-back wins this campaign by taking out Race 7 over 1,100 metres in electric time. It only took Jason Deamer's sprinter 1 minute 2.79 seconds to get around the course, holding more than a length margin back to Godolphin's chasers JORDA and CORUSCATE.
On an off-season meeting ahead of the Villers next week, IRITHEA led all the way over 1,400 metres and ABDON sprinted home over 2,000 metres to join BON AMIS as BM 88 winners, the highest class of race on the day. The bold ride from Jean Van Overmeire got IRITHEA home by a narrow margin, while James McDonald was the tonic ABDON needed, the Kiwi 'hoop' lifting the non-winnner across the line after he had over-raced during much of the event.
Perhaps the most promising winner of the day was Waller's filly ZALATTE, who surged hard to run down BALLER and remain unbeaten after two starts. Her final 200m of 11.22 seconds the second-fastest of the day, only beaten by the swooper VICEROY (11.14 seconds) in the shorter sprint race.
A full review will be on-line Tuesday 12pm.
