Melbourne Cup Quick Guide: Question 3

Published: 30 Oct 2016

Proven horses with stamina sounds good. They'll have more in the tank than most on the home turn.

Finally, we’re left with the question that many punters don’t think about. Do you want a horse that is ‘risky’ or not. It may have never raced over the distance, hasn’t run for a while or simply has up-and-down form.

Remember, it’s as hard for the bookies to price a risky horse as it is for punters!
