Much harder this time - Who Shot Thebarman won the Zipping Classic by seven lengths in 2015

The Spring Carnival may be coming to a close, but the nominations are still plentiful this weekend. Two Friday night meetings are followed by Zipping Classic Day at Sandown and Rosehill Gardens in Sydney.

Melbourne Cup winner ALMANDIN is clearly the most interesting horse nominated, his stable making a decision on whether he will race on Tuesday after trackwork. Eight other Melbourne Cup runners have also been nominated for the Zipping Classic, including BIG ORANGE, BONDI BEACH and WHO SHOT THEBARMAN.

In the Sandown Guineas, SO SI BON, MORTON'S FORK, MISSROCK, FARAWAY TOWN and the improving JENNIFER LYNN are all listed in the early fields.
