'King of the Country Cups' Darren Weir has his work cut out trying to win this year's Pakenham Cup, his two gallopers Auvray and Lord van Percy both badly out of form. The big question in the feature over 2,500 metres is whether the enigmatic PILOTE D'ESSAI can repeat his bold all-the-way win from Ballarat.

At Rosehill Gardens the Group Three Festival Stakes is run, a key lead-up to the Villiers in two weeks time. RELIGIFY stretches up to 1,500 metres again to take on proven milers PAJARO and RED EXCITEMENT, who beat him two starts ago.
