Big smiles - Bindi Cheers enjoyed a hard-earned win

There weren't too many cheers from punters after the Tab.com.au Plate at Rosehill Gardens, but the smile on Bindi Cheers' face was priceless after her five year old grey gelding Phrases saluted the judge at 90/1.

Phrases ended up with an easy lead and set a very slow tempo, despite riding instructions from Bindi to "look for cover". Apprentice jockey Serg Lisnyy started a long sprint for home three furlongs from home and just hung on from Off The Rails, who couldn't find the sprint needed, and the unlucky Magical Stance (3rd) in behind.

Dressed in her customary jeans on race day, Bindi placed the winning sash over Phrases after presentations and the pair set off on their journey out of the mounting yard and into the shadows.

Bindi has been known for keeping her horses up for long preparations and racing them often. Tough types are needed to handle the regime, but it's not all hard work. Her property allows the animals to enjoy open and natural surroundings.

Phrases has thrived, and with 43 starts under his belt as an early season five year old, there are sure to be plenty of other opportunities to add to his tally.
