RACE 1: TAB Place Multi Plate 1100m
- Peggy’s Cove – jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with the hindquarter of Savannah Rose.
- Savannah Rose – was bumped on jumping away when Micucci shifted out.
- Ottoman – jumped away awkwardly and then had to be checked shortly afterwards when tightened for room by My Colleague, which shifted out, and Pride Of Dubai, which was bumped and taken in by Hey Good Looking. Ottoman got its head up and overraced when being restrained off the heels of Pride Of Dubai in the early stages. J McDonald was examined by the Club's Medical Officer and passed suitable to ride in Race 2 and then to be re-assessed.
- My Colleague – overraced badly in the early stages.
- Lock The Doors – laid in in the middle stages.
- Micucci –near the 600m made contact with the running rail when racing tight to the inside of Lock The Doors.
- Saverde – was steadied to avoid heels near the 600m when Micucci struck the rail.
- Peggy’s Cove – checked off the heels of Saverde at the 600m.
- Pride Of Dubai – bumped on jumping and was inclined to lay in. When racing greenly passing the 300m, was hampered and became unbalanced when My Colleague shifted out slightly.
RACE 2: Cellarbrations Handicap 1400m
- Avonco – had to be checked inside the 300m when badly held up on the heels of Snitzler. Then passing the 250m had to be checked off the heels of the tiring Snitzler when Harrier Jet, was directed to improve to the inside of Avonco where there was not sufficient room. H Bowman stated, as a result of this incident, his mount lost momentum and was not fully tested.
- Harrier Jet – after being held up was checked passing the 250m when improving to the inside of Avonco, where there was not sufficient room. App. L Grace was advised to exercise more care. Was then directed across heels to the extreme outside to make ground over the concluding stages.
- Tree Of Jesse – was held up until near the 150m, where it took a narrow run between Bomber Brown and Testashadow.
- Conarchie – was held up and could not be fully tested until the final 100m.
- Kaepernick – rider T Berry stated his mount raced very keenly early, before settling in the middle stages, but when asked for an effort on straightening his mount was inclined to lay in and was disinclined to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr M Hawkes stated, in his view, the gelding raced keenly and, consequently, failed to finish the race off. Mr Hawkes undertook to report back on the progress of Kaepernick subsequent to the race.
RACE 3: Drummond Golf Handicap 1400m
- Burbero – bumped Index Linked near the 600m when endeavouring to improve to the outside of the heels of Timeless Prince.
- Index Linked – rider H Bowman stated, first up, the gelding, in a strong pace, was never able to travel comfortably and failed to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr C Waller stated he was disappointed with the first up effort of the gelding on the basis that Index Linked had trialled well. He undertook to report back if there was anything amiss with the gelding subsequent to the race.
RACE 4: Ranvet Handicap 1200m
- Holy Delusions – stood flat-footed and missed the start (3L).
- Engagements – jumped awkwardly.
- Vanilla Princess – jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped Minh Khai.
- Minh Khai – App. W Costin, rider of Vanilla Princess, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a), in that near the 900m she permitted her mount to shift in when not clear of Minh Khai, resulting in Minh Khai being checked. App. Costin’s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday, 4 January 2015, which is the expiry date of a suspension incurred at Wyong on 17 December 2014, and to expire on Saturday, 17 January 2015, on which day she may ride.
- Medusa’s Miss – had to be steadied off the heels of Pretty Uncanny (B Avdulla) at the 1000m when Pretty Uncanny shifted in when not clear. B Avdulla was reprimanded and advised to ensure he is two lengths clear when shifting ground. T Angland (Miss Ready) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 700m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Medusa’s Miss, which was checked. T Angland’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday, 28 December 2014 and to expire on Sunday, 4 January 2015, on which day he may ride.
- Miss Ready – was hampered approaching the first turn and had to be restrained off the heels of Engagement (S Clipperton), which shifted in when not fully clear. S Clipperton was reprimanded and advised to ensure he is two lengths clear when shifting ground in future. Miss Ready was inclined to overrace for some distance following this incident.
- Dream Empress – was hampered near the 100m when Kristy Lee (App. S Clenton), which had been held up, improved into a narrow run between that runner and Stolen Kisses. App. Clenton was reprimanded and told to exercise more care. Rider T Berry stated that the mare’s failure to finish the race off was disappointing, albeit it struck some interference near the 100m, but particularly so as Dream Empress was afforded an easy run in front. He added the only explanation he could offer was that the mare, in his opinion, is best suited on a softer surface.
- She’s A Girl – overraced early. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had lost both front plates and was lame in the off-foreleg. Trainer Mr S Englebrecht was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare racing again.
RACE 5: TAB.COM.AU Plate 1900m
- Phrases – App. S Lisnyy explained that, while his instructions had been to find cover, he looked across 100m after the start when crossing from his wide barrier and elected to push on, as he felt he would have been caught three wide, where by his mount was able to obtain an easy lead.
- Magical Stance – pulled hard in the early stages. At the 350m had to be restrained off the heels of Phrases. Was held up and could not be fully tested at any stage in the straight.
- Georgey Aeroplane – pulled hard in the early stages.
- It’s A Silver Trail – was held up and could not be tested, before coming into contact with Georgey Aeroplane approaching the 100m, as It’s A Silver Trail proceeded into a narrow run between that runner and Off The Rails.
RACE 6: Schweppes Handicap 1300m
- Chuchoter – trainer Ms C Roberts, who had her first starter today as a trainer, was spoken to concerning her failure to notify App. L Grace the rider of the mare by 9.30am. Was checked shortly after the start.
- Countryman – knuckled over on jumping.
- Numbers – was checked at the start.
- Murder Of Crows – was checked at the start. On jumping away was initially tightened by Chuchoter, which shifted in away from Casual Choice. Shortly afterwards Murder Of Crows and Numbers were checked when Zin Zan Eddie shifted out away from Forget, which also shifted out. In the incident Chuchoter was checked when pushed across the heels of Casual Choice. Near the 500m Zin Zan Eddie shifted out to improve around the heels of Windjammer and, in so doing, came into contact with Murder Of Crows, hampering that runner and taking it wider on the track.
- Zin Zan Eddie –On straightening raced in restricted room between Windjammer and Murder Of Crows. Then approaching the 200m had to be checked off the heels of Windjammer, which shifted out.
- Haussmann – when questioned concerning the improved performance of the gelding, stable representative Mr D Beadman stated that the race today was back in grade from its second up 7th placing in the Listed Starlight Stakes at Rosehill on 29 November 2014. He added that Haussmann was stepping up to a more suitable journey today and from barrier 1 and the advantage of a 3 kilogram apprentice claim were also factors in its improved showing.
- Qfighter – was not fully tested over the final 50m when awkwardly placed on the heels of Forget. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had abraded both hind bumpers. Trainer Mr G Ryan reported Qfighter had also sustained a laceration to its mouth. Mr Ryan was asked to provide a veterinary clearance before its next race start.
- Single Spirit – when questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, App. S Clenton stated Single Spirit, which was racing first up today, was forced to race wide throughout the event and, as a consequence, its fitness gave out in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying mild thumps.
RACE 7: Hyland Race Colours Handicap 1100m
- Religify – trainer Mr C Waller reported that the gelding suffered a cut to the chest area, necessitating its withdrawal prior to 7.30am. Mr Waller undertook to present a veterinary clearance and indicated he may race Religify at Canterbury Park next Saturday, 27 December 2014.
- Emperor Of Oz – was slow to begin.
- Pro Consul – was severely checked on jumping away between Miss Alibi and Encostanati, both of which shifted ground.
- Aghamore – was inconvenienced at the 700m and taken out.
- Floral Insight - was inconvenienced at the 700m and taken out.
- Inside Job - was inconvenienced at the 700m and taken out.
- Miss Alibi – was inconvenienced at the 700m and taken out. Rider J Cassidy stated he was able to obtain a position, but as early as the first turn he was concerned with the action of the mare. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying respiratory distress and a cough. Trainer Mr J McNair was advised he must produce a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to the mare racing again.
- Shadow Force – was briefly tightened at the 700m when Craftiness (B Shinn) shifted in. B Shinn was reprimanded. In the incident Shadow Force overreacted, got its head up and ran out. In issuing a reprimand, the Stewards took into account that B Shinn had immediately relieved the tightening and shifted out, hampering runners to his outside.
- Encostanati – after racing tight to the inside of Forget, which was tight inside Matignon, was checked from the heels of Aghamore at the 650m when Aghamore (G Schofield) shifted back in. Had to be checked when disappointed for a run between Miss Alibi, which was giving ground quickly, and Aghamore, which shifted in. G Schofield was told to make greater effort to keep his mounts straight.
- Supreme Effort – was held up in the early stages of the straight and had to be restrained off the heels of Floral Insight.
Tumult – did not obtain clear running and was not tested in the straight. Brushed the running rail near the 150m.
RACE 8: TAB Rewards Handicap 1500m
- Frespanol – was slow to begin and hampered shortly afterwards.
- Maddhal – was checked on jumping away and overraced. Trainer Mr D Vandyke stated, after missing the start, the gelding was disadvantaged by racing back in the field, where it commenced to overrace. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding abraded both fore bumpers and its off-hind bumper. Mr Vandyke was asked to provide a veterinary clearance prior to Maddhal racing again.
- Specific Choice – approaching the first turn, when overracing, had to be restrained off the heels of Vashka (B Shinn), which shifted in when not fully clear. B Shinn was told to ensure he is two lengths clear when shifting ground.
- Centre Pivot – was held up in the early part of the straight.
- The Alfonso – hung in badly in the straight and proved difficult to ride.
