"Push button" - Vashka streaks clear at Rosehill today
Blake Shinn can be forgiven for seeing double today at Rosehill as he piloted two up-and-coming horses in Craftiness and Vashka to victories in their respective races. Both perfectly rated in front, the punters cheered as both dominated from the lead and left all rivals in their wake.
Craftiness has all the makings of another powerful Jo Pride sprinter and plenty of scope looking ahead to the Autumn. From what we have seen today, he as the talent to reach the heights of Group racing.
Vashka made it five on the trot and has progressed well through the grades this summer racing season for Godolphin. Shinn described Vashka as a "push-button horse to ride." The Race Guide's Analysts noted that you don't see many horses sustain a long run like he does.
But all that talent can be wasted without the right 'hoop' in the saddle. Shinn's style of maintaining a horse's rhythm right to the line, and his faultless pace-setting, helped to make it a great day for punters.
After this double-blow, it wasn't just the heat that was making Bookies sweat out in Sydney's west.
