Weekend Track Conditions

Published: 23 Jan 2015

Royal Randwick gets it's very own trifecta this week, the third week of racing at 'headquarters' in a row. Two good off-season feature races in the middle of the card add interest, while Melbourne is warming up for it's pre-Carnival racing. Moonee Valley is the scene for the Jeep Australia Stakes, staring the popular Moody galloper Dissident.

The tight and cambered turns of Moonee Valley call for a horse that can sustain a strong surge around a bend. Long and leggy types will often struggle, along with horses that get back in the field.

Royal Randwick's lush turf and famous 'rise' at the start of the straight make it a course that is suited for tougher types. Hopefully this week the surface isn't as firm as the meeting seven days ago.
