Scone Track Update

Published: 09 May 2018

Conditions (forecast): GOOD 3

Bias (forecast for Friday TRUE rail): NEAR RAILS, possible COVER needed (due to wind)

Bias (forecast for Saturday +3m rail): FAIR early, OFF RAILS late, possible COVER needed (due to wind)

We are off to Scone this weekend for a big two day carnival. Famous for a long straight that gives most horses their chance, the Scone racecourse is a beautiful location, but it does suffer from some track bias when the rail is in the TRUE or after a lot of use. Added to that we have a weather forecast with a strong westerly wind Friday (35-50 km/h) and Saturday (25-35 km/h). A wind that will be head-on coming from their left in the home straight.

  • 9th April (+5m rail, GOOD) when track was FAIR
  • 18th March (TRUE rail, GOOD) when track was better NEAR RAILS (1W to 4W) until last race
  • 8th March (+3m rail, GOOD) when track was better NEAR RAILS (1W to 4W)
  • 13th May 2017 (+3m rail, GOOD) when track was FAIR early and OFF RAILS late in the day after a lot of use
  • 12th May 2017 (TRUE rail, GOOD) when track was a bit better NEAR RAILS (1W to 6W)
