Top 5 Early Insights - Rosehill Gardens
Published: 19 Feb 2015
A big day awaits - Rosehill Gardens hosts the Hobartville Stakes this weekend
The full Race Guides for Rosehill Gardens will be on-line Friday at 8am, including Form, Comments and The Race Guide's Profiler for each galloper.
Getting the edge is what it is all about, helping you to know if your horse is the right one for the conditions on the day.
Until then, The Race Guide's Analyst team have listed their Top 5 Early Insights.
1 - Hughie’s kind to the Cat
Catkins finds another Set Weights event and she is placed to dominate again.
The small margin to a brave Lilliburlero last start might be deceiving. As Max Presnell wrote in a recent column “Hugh Bowman gave the impression he would be birched with barbed wire for every time he hit Catkins with the whip at Rosehill Gardens last Saturday.”
Our Analysts agree, she was given a very easy time.
More in the locker - Catkins wasn't asked for the maximum effort last start
2 - Even less Grimm this time
Tales of Grimm looked out of place first-up in Australia.
Not through lack of class, but because he was a Leaner Balanced type up against powerful sprinters.
The step up to 1350 metres will only help this weekend.
Further suits - Tales of Grimm can improve this weekend
3 – A real racer
Genuineness and athleticism. Two qualities you want a galloper to have when they run first-up. Hallowed Crown isn’t as big as some of his three-year-old year, but he’s got every bit as much fight as them, if not more.
Expect a big run first-up. A touch of rain would just help that little bit.
Chases hard - Hallowed Crown wins the Group 1 Golden Rose over Scissor Kick
4 – Baker can’t, can he?
Burbero stretches out to 1900m in Race 7. He’s a genuine little fighter with the breeding to give the race a nudge, but looking at him in the yard might dent the confidence.
He’s a ‘nuggetty’ galloper, smaller in height, with plenty of muscle to drive speed.
Not the usual ingredients for a middle-distance Listed winner.
Not the type? - Burbero looks like a sprinter/miler
5 – High pressure get out stakes
The last at Rosehill has a few horses engaged that like to get up and roll. Spacecraft and Paederos have drawn outside barriers and Waterhouse has a couple that will be on pace too.
Laidback Larry is so one-paced that he almost has to break records before the turn to have any chance.
A race set-up that could play to Black Revolver and Adorabeel.
Ready to fire - Black Revolver is on the seven-day back-up
