He said during this time he was committed to the outside of the heels of Passage Of Time which allowed Special Missile to shift out from a position on the fence and take advantage of a run that had developed between Passage Of Time and King Darci near the 300m. As a result, Up ’N’ Rolling was held up until the 200m. J McDonald conceded that after viewing the official footage he erred in not taking a run between King Darci and Passage Of Time at the 300m. • Hay Now – en route to the course, Hay Now aggravated an on old abrasion as the base of its tail, was examined by the Club's veterinarian and passed suitable to race. As N Heywood was overweight, permission was granted for A Hyeronimus to be substituted as the rider of the mare. N Heywood was fined $200 under AR120(b). App R Prest (Didn't Even Kiss Me) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that after the 1100m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Medaille causing that horse to be taken in across the running of Hay Now, which had to be checked. R Prest's permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 27 May 2018 to expire on Thursday 7 June 2018, on which day she may ride. The rider of Tessera, Ms K O'Hara was obliged to take corrective measures and although in the opinion of the Stewards her actions may have compromised her finishing position they were nonetheless appropriate in the circumstances. When questioned B Looker explained he had been asked to ride the horse in about a midfield position if possible but to ensure he was able to achieve this without having to pressure his mount and said for this reason in the middle stages when racing to the inside of Star Reflection permitted that horse to cross him after the 1000m. He said that early in the straight he was able to place his mount under pressure, however over the final 200m was unable to secure clear running and was badly held up thereafter.
  • Handfast – when caught wide and without cover was permitted to stride forward and race prominently, however, continued to travel wide without cover.
  • Dissolute – raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

He said after the 1000m he was able to rate the horse and travel at even sections through the middle stages. He added however, Bon Amis was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened over the latter stages and was of the opinion that Bon Amis may benefit with the addition of blinkers, a view he expressed to the connections following the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
  • Mana – From a wide barrier was shifted in behind runners in the early stages. Raced keenly in the middle stages and approaching the 800m was steadied away from the heels of Noire. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
  • Star Reflection –was held up for clear running until passing the 200m.
  • Thaad – was held up for clear running on straightening until near the 200m and soon after Thaad was shifted to the outside of the heels of Dissolute when that runner shifted in when not properly clear.
