Saturday Track Conditions

Published: 06 Mar 2015

Group One 'Guineas' races in both states as FLEMINGTON and ROYAL RANDWICK host big cards of racing.

The recent OFF RAILS bias at FLEMINGTON could be balanced out by a move back to the TRUE rails position and some aeration of the track out wider. A day of FAIR racing is forecast on the big wide open expanses of Melbourne's premier track.

Horses that can sustain a long run are favoured down the long Flemington straight. Powerful horses also get to show their best, winding up to top speed, especially if the tempo is only steady.

Even more exciting is the prospect of FAIR racing at ROYAL RANDWICK. The rail moves out 3 metres, which is nearer to the peak of the camber in the home straight. There's always the chance the horses will need to get wider though, especially later in the day.

Watch out for athletic and agile types improving at the tougher circuit. ROSEHILL suits more powerful horses, it's a flatter and faster track.
