Best in the Yard - Inglis Guineas/Coolmore Dark Jewel Race Day at Scone Race Club
Published: 18 May 2014
The best in the yard from the Inglis Guineas/Coolmore Dark Jewel Race Day at Scone Race Club came from Race 5, with the David Pfieffer trained "Atmospherical" parading in great fashion before the Listed Darley Denise's Joy Stakes over 1100m. Alongside the other three year old fillies, she looked composed and stronger than most, clearly in good health.
She has more about her than many sprinting fillies, with good scope to her frame and athleticism that can see her maintain speed off fast tempos. Her racing style is more adaptable as a result, able to either use pure speed and lead, or be saved up just off the pace for a strong finish.
Breeding
The speed comes from a pedigree that is full of fast horses. Her sire is the ill-fated speedster Northern Meteor (Gai Waterhouse trained), who showed incredible power in a short race-track career, and was the former 1200m Royal Randwick track record holder in a performance that broke the hearts of all others in the field. On the dams side, 1200m winner (Kembla Grange) Faster Pussycat is a daughter of the irrepressible Arrowfield sire Flying Spur.
The Result
1st (0.2 lengths), beating Fare Well and Miss Alibi. Starting price $3.50.
