Top 5 Early Insights @ Royal Randwick

Published: 18 Jun 2015

Loves Randwick - Mount Nebo returns to his favourite track after racing in the Brisbane Carnival

The rain is falling in Sydney on Thursday night and a HEAVY track seems likely for Royal Randwick this weekend.

Ahead of the full Race Guide's going on-line Friday morning, the Analyst Team have listed their Top 5 Early Insights.

1 - Beware of the Bias

The rail is out 9 metres this weekend at Randwick, which could be a recipe for a biased track.

Keep a close eye on a possible NEAR RAILS bias on the day as it was two weeks ago.

Horses like SENSE AND REASON (Race 4), ELECTRIC POWER (Race 4), SEE THE WORLD (Race 6) and OAKFIELD COMMANDS (Race 6) were stuck in the 'slow lane' that day.

Better luck this time? - Electric Power might get a better run from barrier 3

2 - Power vs Fight

Race 2 at Royal Randwick is a small field with a couple of favourites dominating the market.

MEDCAUT and GOD'S IN HIM are both powerful types that can produce a good sprint, along with the Cummings galloper LUNAR RISE.

They've got the class to win, but if the track is 'bottomless', expect the tough horses KAYPERS, OFF THE RAILS and I'M IN THE MONEY to firm in the market.

Tough mare - I'm in the Money is a genuine race horse

3 - Another Nice Win?

Wouldn't It Be Nice loves a wet Randwick and chasing after the speedy grey ZARATONE suits the back-marker perfectly.

He stormed past ZARATONE and classy mare AVOID LIGHTNING last start.

If MOUNT NEBO doesn't bring his best form back from Brisbane, he's going to be hard to hold out again.

Can win again - Wouldn't It Be Nice gets the right conditions again this weekend

4 - You Can Rely on Me

A full field of sprinters line up for a muddy 1,000 metre dash in Race 7.

It's got the Analyst Team puzzled, a lottery of a race!

If you're playing the multiples, don't leave out AROUSED, KUDERO and MISS ALIBI. They are all reliable speedsters that give their all.

Fights hard - Aroused can push forward and get into the finish

5 - Light on his Feet

By the time the last race comes around Randwick might look more like a footy pitch than a race track.

When the conditions get really chopped up, wet-trackers that can 'skip' through the mud often do well.

Waller's GEORGEY AEROPLANE fits the profile after a promising first-up run.

Light and lean - Georgey Aeroplane might be the right horse this weekend
