Race-by-Race Summary

RACE 1: TAB Place Multi Handicap 1400m

  • Over The Air – prior to the declaration of correct weight, the Stewards viewed the official patrol footage as to whether there were grounds for objection against 2nd placegetter Electric Tribute. When they were satisfied there were insufficient grounds to proceed, correct weight was declared. T Angland, rider of Electric Tribute, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that, near the 50m when his mount was attempting to run out, he failed to show a sufficient duty of care to his fellow riders in that he then resumed riding with the whip, which resulted in Electric Tribute shifting out across the rightful running of Over The Air, resulting in Over The Air being checked. In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account the racing manners of Electric Tribute. T Angland's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday, 5 July 2015 and to expire on Sunday, 12 July 2015, on which day he may ride.
  • Lieder – hampered at the start when Libidosun shifted in.
  • Intrepid Way – overraced throughout the early stages.
  • Libidosun – when questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, which finished 6th, B Shinn stated that shortly after jumping he was briefly crowded for room between Lieder and Minaret, both of which shifted ground and, as a result, finished up racing further back than intended. He added that he elected to concede a little ground and shift away from the rails to race on the back of Lieder, as he felt that runner was his principal danger in the race. B Shinn further stated, as the winner, Intrepid Way, finished in the same part of the track in the straight, the run of Libidosun in the circumstances was disappointing. He said that backing up and stepping up in distance, with the big weight on a heavy track, may have been factors in its failure to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr C Waller reported Libidosun will now be spelled.

He added that, as a result, when Der Meister then corrected its shift and shifted back out, he found himself too close to the heels of that runner approaching the 150m and was hampered as a consequence.
  • Missvonn – when questioned, T Clark stated that the mare travelled well, but was unable to quicken. He added he felt Missvonn, which was one-paced today, had not backed up from its hard run, finishing 5th, at Rosehill on 13 June 2015. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
  • Mydream – App. J Taylor stated, in her opinion, the mare had not run out the 1900m journey. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

He added that Our Catch failed to handle the going at any stage today and, as a result, when well beaten in the straight he eased his mount down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a poor post-race recovery. Trainer's representative Mr M Newnham concurred with T Clark that Our Catch did not handle today's heavy track and indicated the gelding will be spelled.

He added that nevertheless Lockroy was unable to quicken in the going and was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stable representative Ms T Rouse agreed that the track conditions may not have been to the gelding's advantage and undertook to report back to the Stewards on the progress of Lockroy subsequent to the race.

He undertook to report back as to how Café Society pulls up and stated that the gelding will now be freshened up and will trial prior to its next start.
  • Mirage – dipped at the 550m.
  • Rockalong – rider T Huet stated his mount did not handle the heavy track and dipped on two occasions near the 600m. Stable representative Mr S Perry stated that Rockalong's win on a Slow (6) surface at Rosehill on 13 June 2013 had taken the stable by surprise, as it had previously performed poorly in trials on wet surfaces. Trainer Mr M Dale stated, in his view, the mare lacked confidence on today's heavy surface and undertook to report if there was anything amiss with the mare subsequent to the race.
  • Transfers- when questioned, App. S Lisnyy stated his instructions were to go forward and, after pushing his mount along, crossed to the lead, however, Transfers then refused to come back underneath him.
