Wrong Horse, Wrong Course

Disappointing - Missvonn could only muster 6th as the $2.50 favourite

The day after a very tricky Rosehill Gardens card, The Race Guide's Analyst Team have gone through each event in detail to update the horse profiles and form information for the Guide.

A few of horses of note are shown below. Gallopers that you could forgive if they find different conditions next start.

The Grinders - MISSVONN and DREAM FOLK

Both of these lean 'one-paced' gallopers were well-backed on the day, and ironically they had both finished well in the same race two weeks ago behind the Waller-trained Reigning.

The trick was that a STRONG TEMPO was set-up in that race by the free-striding PHRASES.

STEADY TEMPOs set by Kerrin McEvoy in both Race 2 (MAURUS) and Race 4 (KAPOUR) made it difficult for them to work into the finish.

Beware, they need a FAIR to STRONG TEMPO in the future.

Lacks a sprint - Dream Folk struggles to accelerate, especially on wet ground

Not Tough Enough - WONDERBOLT

This recent acquisition for the Barbara Joseph stable was cruising in the run behind TWO BLUE, but when the pressure went on he floundered to the line.

He's a muscular galloper with a devastating sprint, which he wasn't able to use in the mud.

Don't dismiss him in better conditions next start.

Powerful type - Wonderbolt is ready to win in the right race next start

Wrong Race - ECHO GAL and IDANCE

Gai Waterhouse's compact sprinter ECHO GAL has returned from a spell in great shape, she paraded nicely and the stable were confident of a bold showing.

She's very genuine and loves getting to the rails and kicking on the turn. It just wasn't the day for that on Saturday.

IDANCE is ready for a step up to 1,400 metres now after two runs at a distance short of his best.

Don't worry about his 9th in Race 8, he's flying!

Close second - Idance finished just behind the talented Private Secretary first-up
