Race Day Quotes @ Rosehill Gardens

Published: 04 Jul 2015

"Very easy" - Collett was excited about the win of Shiraz

Rosehill Gardens was on the 'back-up' today and the track started to show signs of wear and tear. Chopped up ground near the inside didn't look like the place to be, but that's where the turf was drying fastest with horses near the rails running well.

There weren't too many complaints from jockeys and trainers though. Everyone knew where the better ground was, it was just a case of finding it!

A few favourite quotes from the team are shown below.

“She’ll be at home and she always says I never say hello to her... that win was for “grumbles””

Tim Clark, jockey, dedicates his win on SIR MAKO to a friend

“He’ll even be a chance of backing up in the Grafton Cup…”

Chris Waller, trainer of SIR MAKO

That's one's for you "grumbles" - Sir Mako finished hard to win early in the day

“I think the day he gets a good tempo in his race and he can take a sit, you will see a nice horse...”

Kris Lees, trainer of the impressive-looking LAND GRANT

On the way up - Land Grant has plenty of scope to improve

“She’s a tough little bugger, she’s got a big heart. Not much of her, all she wants to do is please you.”

Christian Reith, jockey of HARD TO HOLD

“(It) was another massive run by Fiftyshadesofgrey”

Clare Petit, punter from Tasmania on Twitter (@cpat13)

Flashes into the picture - Fiftyshadesofgrey produced another big run behind Hard to Hold

"I think it's a great team effort. He's been a delight..  really flying at home and enjoying his work."

John O'Shea, trainer of HAUSSMANN, who out-fought TWO BLUE in a close tussle

“You always know you're going to get 110 per cent from her and she tries her heart out.”

Kristen Buchanan, trainer of second-placed TWO BLUE (source: www.smh.com.au)

Great team effort - Haussmann was perfectly prepared by the Osborne Park team

"Very impressive! I though Jason rode him very cool and presented him beautifully. I'm a real fan of the horse..  he can certainly go up in grade."

Tony McEvoy, trainer of big winner SHIRAZ

"Once he was in the clear, very easy, the stick wasn't needed."

Jason Collett, jockey of SHIRAZ

Happy connections - Collett and McEvoy talk with the owners of Shiraz
