Top 5 Early Insights @ Rosehill Gardens

Published: 16 Jul 2015

More luck this time? - Sense And Reason hasn't had many favours since her first-up win

Mid-Winter weather hit hard in Sydney this week. Cold rain and storms have kept the dense turf at Rosehill Gardens well inside the HEAVY range.

The Analyst Team are working hard, looking for fit, in-form and genuine wet-trackers for the eight race card. The Form and Horse Profiles will be on-line Friday morning, along with the Previews for Flemington's big meeting.

Until then, the Analyst Team have listed their Top 5 Early Insights below.

1 - Wet Wet Wet

The forecast for Sydney is to get more rain before the weekend on a track that is already rated HEAVY.

Early market moves have focussed on those that can handle the mud, including Queensland raider ELUSIVE CATCH and 'no-frills' sprinter MOUNT NEBO.

They both could show up at odds if more rain comes.

Tough sprinter - Mount Nebo relishes the wet conditions

2 - Perfect Trail

Those that love Speed Maps will have spotted something in Race 4.

Godolphin's free-striding leader TRANSFERS could give the perfect trail to COMMANDING WIT, a talented mare that enjoys rolling along near the pace.

Hugh Bowman will have his eyes on the 'gun run' right from the jump.

Back to the winner's stall? - Commanding Wit is well-placed this weekend

3 - Out on a Limb

The bias at Rosehill Gardens two weeks ago favoured horses NEAR RAILS.

Expect the gallopers that were stuck out wide that day to improve this weekend. DUCCIO, ALEGRIA, SENSE AND REASON, MOUNT NEBO and RUGGED CROSS can all show up with even luck.

Impressive type - Not many missed the flashing finish of Alegria (royal blue) last start

4 - You'll Never Walk Alone

The win of HAUSSMANN last start franked the form of Waller's talented swooper YOU'LL NEVER, a galloper he couldn't get past at his previous start.

With an amazing record, only finishing outside the top four twice in his last 24 starts, he is a very strong each-way chance again in the Winter Stakes.

Hard to hold out - You'll Never will be storming home again this weekend

5 - Worked Hard for the Win

Strapping sprinter GRANDE PUNTO played a big roll in Hollywood Bound's win two weeks ago. He worked forward out wide with no cover, giving the perfect trail to Waller's impressive winner.

Things could be different this weekend though.

Back to barrier 1 this week will see him get all the favours. Expect him to give Waller's favourite MARENOSTRO a run for his money.

Loves the inside draw - Grande Punto prefers to be guided by the rails
