Vet Notes
- Sofia Rosa (Race 5) – a veterinary examination prior to the race, which revealed an old healing, granulating wound to the front of the off-hind cannon bone, passed the filly fit to start. Shortly after the start was steadied to avoid the heels of In Her Time, which shifted out. When being steadied from the heels of In Her Time near the 1000m, shifted out and made contact with Pearls.
- In Her Time (Race 5) – crowded on jumping between Sofia Rosa and Perignon, which shifted out slightly. Rider M Bell advised that from as far out as the 600m he was struggling to hold his position and, after changing stride noticeably soon after straightening and when he became concerned there may be something amiss with the filly, he eased it down in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer Mr B Smith was advised he would be required to furnish a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, prior to In Her Time trialling to the satisfaction of the Stewards. Mr Smith advised the filly would be spelled.
- Perignon (Race 5) – a post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying a poor postrace recovery and had developed the thumps. Trainer Mr G Ryan was advised a veterinary clearance must be produced prior to the filly racing again.
Penalties and Fines
- Tremec (Race 7): Trainer J Thompson (Tremec) $200 – late notification of rider (LR35).

- No report.
RACE 3: TAB More Than Just Winning Handicap 1200m

- Maddhal – hampered at the start by Darciwood, which shifted in.
- Mine Two – rider App. C Nutman explained the filly travelled well in behind the leaders, but failed to quicken when asked for an effort in the early part of the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr G Frazer stated that the filly had pleased the stable in the lead up to today's event, including trialling well at Wyong on 8 September 2015. He added the only explanation he could offer for the disappointing performance was that Mine Two may not have handled the soft track conditions. Mr Frazer undertook to report the results of a veterinary examination by the stable veterinarian.
RACE 4: The Bowermans Office Furniture Shorts (Group 2) 1100m
- Delectation – rider J McDonald stated that the gelding travelled well in behind Shiraz, however, his mount was unable to quicken and, in his view, would be better suited over longer distances. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
RACE 5: Coolmore Tea Rose Stakes (Group 2) 1400m
- Sofia Rosa – a veterinary examination prior to the race, which revealed an old healing, granulating wound to the front of the off-hind cannon bone, passed the filly fit to start. - In Her Time – crowded on jumping between Sofia Rosa and Perignon, which shifted out slightly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer Mr B Smith was advised he would be required to furnish a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, prior to In Her Time trialling to the satisfaction of the Stewards. - Meteora Miss – overraced early stages.
- Kimberley Star – near the 300m Perignon shifted out away from Lake Geneva and made contact with Kimberley Star, resulting in Perignon and Kimberley Star becoming unbalanced.
- Ottoman – rider J McDonald advised that the filly got a comfortable lead in the early stages but, in his view, failed to run out a strong 1400m. Stable representative Mr B Widdup agreed with the assessment of rider J McDonald that, in the soft track conditions and its first attempt at the distance, the filly did not run out the 1400m journey. The stable undertook to report back on the progress of Ottoman subsequent to the race.
- Lake Geneva – a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
- Perignon – a post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying a poor post-race recovery and had developed the thumps. Trainer Mr G Ryan was advised a veterinary clearance must be produced prior to the filly racing again.

- Pornichet – was inclined to lay out under pressure in the straight.
- Royal Descent – near the 200m was briefly hampered when Pornichet shifted out.
- Hooked – rider T Angland could offer no excuse for the disappointing performance of the horse, other than its first up effort in the Tramway Stakes may have flattened it and it did not appear to handle the shifting track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Thompson stated, in his view, Hooked has not performed best when racing on rain affected going and agreed the horse may not have backed up from its first up run in the Chelmsford Stakes. Mr Thompson undertook to report back on the progress of Hooked subsequent to the race.
RACE 7: Ascend Sales Trophies Hill Stakes (Group 2) 2000m

- High Midnight – held up making the home turn.
- Candelara – rider B Avdulla stated the mare travelled comfortably in front, but was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. He added the only explanation he could offer was maybe the mare did not perform racing second up today.
