  • Ronans Rock (Race 2) - A post race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be lame in the near foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
  • Jenkins (Race 4)  - A post race veterinary examination detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.

Summary of Races

Race 1 - Ladbrokes Handicap - 1200m:

  • Red Gucci - late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 7.50am.

Race 2 - Blue Star Print Plate - 1200m:

  • Star Selection - knuckled on jumping away.
  • Makfi Amour (NZ) - on jumping away made heavy contact with the inside barrier partition.
  • Sunrise Dancer - over-raced through the early and middle stages.
  • Judge OReilly (NZ) - became unbalanced at the 350m when making contact with Star Selection due to both horses shifting ground slightly.
  • Ronans Rock - rider Craig Williams reported that his mount laid inwards in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be lame in the near foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Race 3 - Le Pine Funerals Handicap - 1200m:

  • Fabians Spirit - bumped heavily with Farstar at the start. Raced ungenerously through the early stages. Hampered at the 800m when taken out off its course by More Sundays which in turn was taken out by Hawkshot when over-racing. Apprentice Ben Allen reported that the colt was not suited by the slow tempo. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
  • Farstar - bumped heavily with Fabians Spirit at the start.
  • Halvorsen - began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover.
  • Hawkshot - severely over-raced in the early and middle stages due to the slow tempo.
  • Another Bit - steadied at the 800m to avoid the heels of Expansion due to the slow tempo.
  • More Sundays - rider Jordan Childs reported that in his opinion the colt would be improved by the run. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities

Race 4 - Clanbrooke Racing Handicap - 1600m:

  • Cincinnati Red (NZ) - second placegetter; prior to correct weight rider Stephen Baster viewed the patrol film before deciding not to lodge an objection. It was established that at the 300m Cincinnati Red (NZ) was steadied when disappointed for clear running to the inside of Senrima Tide (NZ) and was then held up until the 200m. Raced keenly through the middle stages.
  • Jenkins - slow to begin. Apprentice Lachlan King stated that after being slow to begin, the colt settled further back than expected and when under pressure in the straight laid out and was not suited by the slow tempo of the race. He further added that the colt would be better suited on a track with more give. A post race veterinary examination detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
  • Courting Verity - apprentice Chelsea MacFarlane reported that she settled further back than anticipated and that the mare dipped at the top of the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 5 - Spicer Thoroughbreds Handicap - 1600m:

  • Cash Affair - was steadied on jumping away when tightened for room by Pure Scot which began awkwardly and shifted in. Weakened from the 350m. Rider Mark Zahra stated that the mare felt amiss in its action. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken for analysis.

Race 6 - The Big Screen Company Handicap - 1400m:

  • Renegade - connections advised would be ridden quieter with the blinkers off; settled worse than mid-field. Rider Luke Currie could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
  • Stylish Assassin - began awkwardly.
  • Burgonet - was inconvenienced shortly after the start by Absolute Heaven which shifted out.
  • Miss Mo - raced three wide without cover.
  • Absolute Heaven - was held up for clear running from the 400m until passing the 300m. When questioned regarding his tactics, rider Damien Oliver stated that he was instructed to be on pace, and after having raced a short distance, he elected to allow Burgonet to go forward, but then ended up further back than anticipated when Peko and Nina Rules showed speed from the outside barriers. He added that the mare was then disappointing.
  • Sworn Evidence - apprentice Ben Allen could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than the mare lost its off hind plate.

Race 7 - NJTCricket.com.au Handicap - 1200m:

  • Bravo Tango - connections advised would be ridden more forward; began awkwardly and settled worse than mid-field.
  • Gold Mag (NZ) - began awkwardly and was then bumped by Dinner Lake which laid in.
  • Its A Shame Billy - slow into stride.

Race 8 - MyPunter.com Handicap - 2100m:

  • Etna (FR) - slow to begin and was then tightened for room between Savaheat (NZ) and Cullingworth (IRE), which shifted in.
  • Ripplebrook - began awkwardly.
  • Nothin Like Harry - raced keenly through the early stages and again in the middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
  • Into Rio (NZ) - raced wide without cover throughout. Taken wide by Nothin Like Harry rounding the home turn.
  • Nothin Leica High - when laying in, steadied at the 400m to avoid the heels of Midas Man (Dwayne Dunn) which shifted out across the heels of Nothin Leica Harry which was shifting back in after having hung out; Dwayne Dunn was severely reprimanded. Continued to lay in under pressure in the straight.
  • Savaheat (NZ) - rider Dean Yendall could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
