Race-by-Race Summary

RACE 1: Antler Luggage Kirkham Plate 1000m

  • Star Turn – when questioned, rider T Berry stated that the instructions were to lead on Star Turn, however the colt was fractious in the stall and missed the start as it did in its Randwick trial on the 21st September 2015. When questioned as to why he didn't make more effort to maintain a position when Milbo commenced to cross near the 700m, T Berry stated that racing in blinkers today, he was reluctant to push his mount forward at this point. Moreover, T Berry stated that he was aware Milbo was being directed in by Starovski and he did not feel it was in the best interest of Star Turn, positioned as it was, to endeavour to contest the position. T Berry added that on straightening, he angled to improve between Chain Shot and Milbo, but had to check when disappointed, as that run did not fully develop and as Milbo shifted out. T Berry stated that when improving into a tight run between Milbo and Starovski approaching the 100m, Star Turn was struck across the nose by the whip of C Brown (Milbo) and was initially reluctant to proceed into that gap.
  • Stravali – a post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Trainer, Mr J Coyle indicated that there had been no issues with Kasiano Lad since its win at Randwick on 19th September 2015. • Nevagotavote – when questioned regarding the improved performance of Nevagotavote in comparison to its 10th placing at Rosehill Gardens on 26th September 2015, trainer, Mr J Deamer stated that the step up in distance, but more particularly, as Nevagotavote was able to dictate terms in front, as it did when it finished second at Rosehill Gardens on 12th September, were the principal reasons for its improvement.
