Caulfield Cup Day in Melbourne

Published: 15 Oct 2015

Duel Derby winner - Kiwi raider Mongolian Khan is looking to add the Caulfield Cup to his trophy cabinet

The stage is set for the biggest Saturday of racing on Caulfield's 'heath' with the running of the Caulfield Cup (Race 9). As always, a solid engagement of international runners add intrigue and status to the feature handicap, with raiders from both Europe and Japan as well as our Kiwi neighbours. One of those from across the Tasman, MONGOLIAN KHAN (pictured), has earnt his place at the top of the market with slashing lead up runs.

On what is always a fantastic card, the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes in Race 8 will let the punters decide if they want to forgive Sydney's glamour mare CATKINS for a rare last start failure.

Earlier in the day, the speedsters let rip over 1,000 metres in the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint (Race 3), where the genuine KURO lines up again against the powerful BALL OF MUSCLE.

UNDER THE LOUVRE did all but win the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes last start and heads out a deserved favourite in the Group 3 Moonga Stakes (Race 7). And the 'speed mappers' will enjoy the tactical Group 3 David Jones Cup (Race 6), a race with questionable tempo.
