Top 5 Early Insights @ Royal Randwick
Published: 22 Oct 2015
Athletic swooper - Sebrina looks like the right type for damp conditions at Randwick
Rain has fallen in Sydney over the last 24 hours, taking the Royal Randwick track into the SOFT range. Tough horses that can handle 'headquarters' will relish those conditions, fighting up the famous 'rise' better than others.
Ahead of the Race Guides at Friday 9am, the Analyst Team lists their Top 5 Early Insights.
1 - Godolphin Class
In the two-year-old race on the card (Race 2), the Hawkes-trained STAR TURN will try and redeem himself after doing a few things wrong debut.
He's obviously got talent, but who's to say he won't make the same mistakes again!
Godolphin's filly CHIPANDA did everything right in her trial and looks like a real 'pro'.
The Bet: CHIPANDA at $2.9 with CrownBet
Professional outfit - The Godolphin stable educates their two-year-olds well
2 - A Royal Run
FOREIGN PRINCE is a leader that enjoys SOFT tracks and he finds a suitable small field this week.
Expect him to roll to the front and be very hard to run down in Race 3 over 1,600 metres. The last time he was on wet ground, he put a big space on Keepit to Yourself, who won a good black-type race next start.
The Bet: FOREIGN PRINCE at $4 with CrownBet
Loves the mud - Foreign Prince can stick on from in-front
3 - Can't Find a Better Lad?
KASIANO LAD (Race 4) is a talented horse, but he doest lack muscle and POWER.
That played against him last start on a very firm and fast surface over 1,200 metres, when DREAM CHOICE was simply too quick.
Back on to a tougher track this week is the perfect race set-up for him to bounce back.
The Bet: KASIANO LAD at $3 with Luxbet
Not as much need for speed - Kasiano Lad might have simply been out-sped last start
4 - On the Rise
The price might drift for HERNE'S OAK (Race 8) before Saturday, a horse that trainer Bjorn Baker has stated prefers dry tracks.
But don't let that put you off too much, he's an up-and-coming stayer that really shone in the yard last start.
Both of his SOFT track runs to date have been in races with an unsuitable STEADY tempo.
The Bet: HERNE'S OAK at $4.4 with CrownBet
Showing big talent - Herne's Oak is a classic-looking son of High Chaparral
5 - Horses for Courses
The 'get out stakes' on a big nine race card is an evenly matched mares race, a Quaddie killer if ever you saw one!
Looking for the mares that will enjoy the tough Randwick circuit, NANCY, ROCKOLICIOUS, DANISH TWIST, SEBRINA and OXFORD HEART all stand out.
The last two are at good odds too!
The Bet: SEBRINA at $16 with Luxbet and OXFORD HEART each-way at $34 with CrownBet
Place chance at odds - Oxford Heart finds the right race this weekend at a good price
