One To Watch - Mountain View

Published: 09 Aug 2014

He might be bred to be a stayer (High Chaparral (IRE) x Miss Distinction (NZ)), but 'Mountain View' was able to get within 3.3 lengths of Target In Sight over 1000m in Race 7 at Royal Randwick. The signs were there that he could perform well after a strong 3rd in a trial behind As Needed and he looked great in the yard too.

He even outshone the other best paraded - 'Rifleman' - according to The Race Guide's on-track team.

Both of his wins came at 1600m and over, and other performances of note include a 4th behind Gallatin in The Tulloch Stakes over 2000m. As a type, he is quite athletic with an efficient frame and will be suited this preparation on drier surfaces with a genuine tempo up-front.

As he steps up in distance there is no doubt he is a horse to follow this Spring.

Mountain View paraded in great fashion ahead of Race 7 at Royal Randwick
