Champion sprinter - Exosphere will be very hard to beat over the straight six at Flemington
The Spring Carnival hits top gear this weekend at Flemington with four big Group One features highlighting a massive card. Huge depth across the races means there's lots of value to be found, with the exception of the Coolmore, in which punters will be trying to find something to beat odds-on favourite EXOSPHERE.
Ahead of The Race Guides being published on-line, the Analyst Team have listed their Top 5 Insights to help you get in front of the bookies early.
1 - Beware of the Bias
There was a 'wicked' bias at Moonee Valley last weekend, horses NEAR RAILS and ON-PACE having a big advantage over the others.
HAPPY TRAILS was the widest runner in the Cox Plate and import GAILO CHOP had to make his run out wider on the turn.
They are both good odds to turn it around in the Mackinnon Stakes.
The Bet - HAPPY TRAILS at $9 and GAILO CHOP at $17 with CrownBet
Give him another chance - Happy Trails didn't have any luck in the Cox Plate
2 - Firing Fresh
Gerald Ryan is renowned as a highly skilled horseman in the industry, a trainer with the knack of timing his galloper's campaigns to perfection.
He travels south to Flemington on Saturday with the big strapping types RED EXCITEMENT (Race 3) and SOLICIT (Race 8).
They both fire fresh and can surprise at a big price.
The Bet - RED EXCITEMENT at $12 and SOLICIT at $26 with CrownBet
Centre stage - Solicit parades ahead of the Myer Classic last year
3 - Refined Duo
ELHAAME and HAVANA COOLER aren't your normal stable duo in the Lexus Stakes.
They're representatives of the biggest global racing operation; even making it through the ranks to represent Godolphin during the peak racing season is an achievement in itself.
They will both be very hard to beat as they bid for a Melbourne Cup spot.
The Bet - HAVANA COOLER at $5.5 and ELHAAME at $7.5
Cup contender? - Elhaame has been galloping impressively on the training track
4 - Stamina & Class
Finding the Derby winner requires a good analysis of the form and an understanding of each horse's profile.
Looking for types that have the form-lines to win and the stamina to stay 2,500 metres, it's hard to go past favourites TARZINO and KIA ORA KOUTOU, while ETYMOLOGY has the blood-lines to win at big odds.
The Bet - ETYMOLOGY at $17 with CrownBet and a boxed trifecta
Hard to beat - Tarzino is racing in peak form ahead of his Derby tilt
5 - Power into Saturday Night
Chris Waller's DELECTATION is one of the most physically gifted gallopers going around on Saturday, but he does have his tricks.
He's a horse with huge POWER to accelerate and produce rapid sectionals that not many sprinters can match.
All Hugh Bowman needs to do is keep him settled over the first three furlongs in Race 9 to save up his exhilarating finish.
The Bet - DELECTATION at $5 with CrownBet
Big finish - Delectation will be a punter's favourite if he wins the last on Super Saturday
