Vet Notes

  • King of War (Race 1) - bumped on the hindquarter on jumping and became unbalanced. When questioned, C Reith could offer no excuse for the disappointing performance of the colt, which weakened badly after racing outside the leader. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be displaying respiratory distress. Co-trainer Mr P Snowden stated King Of War raced keenly early, however, it was his intention now to spell the colt.
  • Freeze The Charges (Race 8) – knuckled badly on jumping away. When questioned concerning Freeze The Charges weakening quickly over the latter stages, App. W Costin stated the mare does not run out a strong 1100m and appears to be a horse that, when challenged, does not give a lot. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the right nostril.

  • King Of War – bumped on the hindquarter on jumping and became unbalanced. When questioned, C Reith could offer no excuse for the disappointing performance of the colt, which weakened badly after racing outside the leader. RACE 3: Bradford Soundscreen Handicap 1100m

  • Agent – approaching the 1000m got its head up and had to be restrained when Inz'n'Out (J Parr) shifted in. J Parr was told to ensure he is two lengths clear when shifting ground in future. Agent continued to overrace after this incident.
  • Mighty Lucky – awkwardly placed close to the heels of Inz'n'Out over the final 50m.
  • Inz'n'Out – when questioned why he had not pressed on and crossed Religify after rounding the first turn, J Parr stated he was mindful of not making too much use of his mount, as he would have had to ask it for another effort to cross Religify. He was advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, he had erred in allowing Religify to maintain the inside running, whereby that runner was afforded the rails running as it was able to improve past Inz'n'Out in the latter stages of the race.

RACE 4: Lidoran Group Handicap 1200m

  • Magic Alibi – jumped in the air at the start and was then caught wide.
  • Perfect Dare – inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.

A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

  • Cricklewood – overraced in the early stages.
  • One Son – rider D Beasley dropped his whip at the 300m. When questioned regarding the performance, D Beasley stated, whilst his mount led, it was never travelling within itself and raced flatly. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr C Heywood stated that One Son was unsuited when pressured by The Big Rig as far out as the 900m. Mr Heywood undertook to report back on the progress of the gelding subsequent to the race.
  • Distinctive Look – at the 150m had to be steadied away from the heels of Tiger By The Tale and, in so doing, shifted in and inconvenienced Cricklewood. Rider G Lynch stated his mount raced ungenerously and proved difficult to steer. He added he had recommended the addition of a tongue tie.

Stewards ruled that Magic Of Dreams must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to its next start.
  • Fiftyshadesofgrey – at the 700m the mare shifted in and brushed the running rail.
  • Lady Jivago – when questioned concerning the performance, G Buckley stated that he had to make use of the filly from its wide barrier to cross and race outside the leader, but irrespective Lady Jivago did not finish its race off and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Englebrecht stated the only excuse he could offer was that the filly may have got its tongue back and that he would experiment with a tongue tie in trackwork.
