- Cristal Eyes (Race 2) - Post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horses racing performance and a slow recovery. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
- Main Stage (NZ) (Race 6) - A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
- Happy Clapper (Race 8) - Post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horses racing performance. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
- Sagarra (Race 9) - A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame right fore. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
Penalties & Fines
- John Allen (Jumbo Ozaki) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR131(a). The careless riding being that near the 200 metres he rode his mount out when insufficiently clear of Cristal Eyes resulting in that filly being steadied to avoid making contact with the heels of Jumbo Ozaki. J Allen had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of eleven meetings to commence midnight 24 March, 2019 and to expire after the day meeting on the 4 April, 2019 (4 metro, 7 provincial). In assessing penalty the Stewards were of the view that the incident qualified for the mid-range category of carelessness and took into account his guilty plea and record.
- Stephen Baster (Favourite Things) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR131(a). The careless riding being that passing the 200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Miss Harriette resulting in that filly being taken in and tightening the running of Pelican resulting in Pelican and Miss Harriette having to be checked. S Baster had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of ten meetings to commence midnight 24 March, 2019 and to expire midnight 3 April, 2019. (3 metro, 7 provincial). In assessing penalty the Stewards were of the view that the incident qualified for the mid-range range category of carelessness and took into account his guilty plea and good record.
- Jason Maskiell (Come On Carl) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR131(a). The careless riding being that passing the 1850 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of El Don resulting in El Don having to steady to avoid the heels of Come On Carl and being taken in and crowding the running of Belgravia. J Maskiell had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of seven meetings to commence midnight 16 March, 2019 and to expire midnight 22 March, 2019. (2 metro, 5 provincial). In assessing penalty, the Stewards were of the view that the incident qualified for the low-range range category of carelessness and took into account his excellent record and guilty plea.
- Billy Egan (Widgee Turf) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR131(a). The careless riding being that near the 50 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Odeon (NZ), resulting in that gelding having to be steadied to avoid Widgee Turfs heels. B Egan had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of ten meetings to commence midnight 19 March, 2019 and to expire midnight 28 March, 2019 (3 metro, 7 provincial). In assessing penalty, the Stewards were of the view that the incident qualified for the mid-range category of carelessness and took into account his guilty plea and record.
- Lucy Warwick, Material Man was fined $500 for breaching the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on nine occasions prior to the 100 metres.
Summary of Races
Race 1 LEXUS MELBOURNE CUP TOUR TROPHY - 1200 metres:
- Just Hifalutin Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival on course after sustaining small abrasions to both hind legs en-route and was passed suitable to race.
- Swift Sis Slow to begin.
- Flying Krupt Held up from the 400 metres and then when obtaining a narrow run passing the 300 metres raced in restricted room for some distance.
- Quilista Rider Lucy Warwick reported the mare, which blew hard on pulling up, would take benefit from todays run. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
- Fuhryk Rider Craig Williams could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of the mare. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality other than the mare lost the left front plate during the event.
Race 2 AUTUMN TROPHY - 1400 metres:
- Scottish Rogue Jumped away awkwardly.
- Orcein Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. When over racing in the early stages then had to be steadied near the 1000 metres to avoid the heels of Scottish Rogue.
- Zoumanor Slow to begin.
- East Indiaman Raced three wide without cover.
- Jumbo Ozaki Held up from the 500 metres before shifting out to gain clear running passing the 200 metres.
- Cristal Eyes Steadied to avoid contacting the heels of Jumbo Ozaki, which shifted out near the 200 metres. Performed below market expectations. Post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horses racing performance and a slow recovery. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
- Outrageous Rider Dwayne Dunn reported that it was not his intention to lead, however after beginning well, he ended up further forward than anticipated.

- Charleise Jumped away awkwardly. Checked passing the 200 metres when giving ground was tightened for room between Pelican which was being tightened inwards and Californian Honey which laid out. Rider Mark Zahra could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
- Miss Harriette Jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped Ready Set Sail. Contacted at the start by Flit. Checked passing the 200 metres when tightened for room between Pelican and Favourite Things which shifted in when not clear.
- Flit Shortly after the start shifted out and made heavy contact with Miss Harriette.
- Pelican (NZ) Checked passing the 200 metres. Rider Luke Nolen could offer no explanation for the performance other than his mount was not suited by the straight track. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

- Aperitif Change of tactics To be ridden mid-field. Settled mid-field.
- Lady Horseowner Re-shod on arrival at the barriers. Hampered at the start.
- Beauty Jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and hampered Lady Horseowner.
- Write Enuff Jumped away awkwardly and got its head up when over racing in the early stages.
- Lady Solly Over raced in the early and middle stages.
- Assertive Play When weakening had to be steadied near the 50 metres to avoid the heels of Aperitif, which shifted out slightly.
- Lake District Girl Weakened from the 300 metres. Rider Dwayne Dunn reported that, in his opinion, his mount was not suited by the straight track. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
Race 5 GRAND CLASSIC FINAL - 2000 metres:
- Dark Pearl (IRE) Change of tactics To be ridden further forward. Settled in a mid-field position.
- Pour Vous (IRE) Change of tactics To lead. Settled outside the leader.
- Come On Carl Jumped awkwardly and made contact with Golden Authority (NZ). Passing the 1850 metres shifted in when insufficiently clear of El Don.
- Sacred Theme Jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and bumped Golden Authority (NZ). Rider Craig Williams reported his mount was not suited to racing back in the field and felt the gelding was uncomfortable in its action. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
- Golden Authority (NZ) Bumped at the start.
- Dialectic (IRE) Jumped away awkwardly
- El Don (NZ) Steadied to avoid heels near the 1850 metres. Lay out rounding the home turn and in the straight.
- Starrybeel (NZ) App Ethan Brown reported that, in his opinion, his mount was not suited to racing back in the field. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Rider Craig Williams reported his mount was not suited by racing back in the field with the pattern of todays racing. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
- Sir Edwin Landseer (IRE) Change of tactics To be ridden mid-field. Settled in a handy position. Jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped Mr Reckless (IRE) out onto Rezealient resulting in Rezealient being tightened for room and having to be steadied. Rider Ben Melham could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
- Von Mystic Jumped away awkwardly.
- Rezealient Tightened for room at the start.
- Mr Reckless Bumped at the start
Race 7 SEPPELT WINES MARCH STAKES - 1400 metres:
- Mahamedeis Jumped away awkwardly.
- He Or She Slow to begin.
- Streets Of Avalon Over raced in the early and middle stages. Rider Zac Spain dropped his right rein for a short distance approaching the 100 metres.
- Odeon Steadied near the 50 metres.

- Balfs Choice Change of tactics - From the good barrier to be ridden more forward. Settled in a handy position.
- Material Man Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival on course and was passed suitable to race. Rider Lucy Warwick was fined $500 for breaching the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on nine occasions prior to the 100 metres.
- Urban Ruler - Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival on course and was passed suitable to race. During the event lost the right fore plate.
- Hawkshot On jumping away knuckled and almost fell. Stewards will follow up with the Hayes/Dabernig stable regarding Hawkshot.
- Mr Money Bags Tightened for room by MossNDale, which was in turn was taken in by Urban Ruler, which jumped away awkwardly and shifted in. During the event lost the right fore plate.
- Man Of His Word Jumped away awkwardly.
- Alizee Jumped away awkwardly.
- Mystic Journey Raced three wide without cover. Rider Anthony Darmanin was severely reprimanded for his celebratory gesture.
- MossNDale Rider Jack Martin reported his mount would appreciate tracks with more give. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
- Happy Clapper Post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horses racing performance. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
Race 9 FURPHY GRAND SPRINT FINAL - 1200 metres:
- Mastering Jumped away awkwardly. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 200 metres.
- Prepare To Win Jumped away awkwardly
- Sagarra Rider Luke Currie reported the gelding raced too keenly and for this reason settled further forward than intended and did not finish the race off. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame right fore. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
- Boss Coni Joe Bowditch reported the gelding may not have been suited by the straight track and over the concluding stages lay in. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
- Blue Tycoon Apprentice Ethan Brown reported the gelding coughed several times on pulling up but could offer no other excuse for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
