Vet Notes

Paret (Race 1) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed Paret had bled from both nostrils for the second occasion. Under the provisions of AR79(6) Paret is now prohibited from racing.
Athiri (Race 3) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed Athiri to be displaying the thumps. Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition of Athiri in the days subsequent.
Invincible Lotus (Race 3) – A post-race veterinary examination of Invincible Lotus, which raced keenly in the early stages, found the filly to be displaying a poor post-race recovery. Trainer Mr B. Stanley was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before Invincible Lotus is permitted to race again.
Bronte (Race 3) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small laceration to the nearhind pastern.
Hightail (Race 4) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover.
Zalatte (Race 5) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed Zalatte to be lame (2/5) in the near-foreleg. Trainer Mr C. Waller was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before Zalatta is permitted to race again.
Patrick Erin (Race 6) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame (3/5) in the off-foreleg. Trainer Mr C. Waller was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before Patrick Erin is permitted to race again.
Age Of Fire (Race 6) –A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame (1/5) in the near-foreleg. Co-trainer Mr C. Maher was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before Age Of Fire is permitted to race again.
I Am Serious (Race 7) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be slow to recover.
Jamaican Rain (Race 7) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame (1/5) in the off-foreleg. Trainer Mr R. Laming was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before Jamaican Rain is permitted to race again.
Manicure (Race 7) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame (2/5) in the near-foreleg. Stable representative Mr D. Beadman was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before Manicure is permitted to race again.

Penalties & Fines

Mr M Tubman, Trainer of Rejinsky was fined $100 under AR106(1) for presenting the colt with winkers, which are not part of its approved gear. Began only fairly and then was crowded between Stronger and Cosmic Force.

Summary of Races

RACE 1: Catanach's Handicap 1350m:

Don't Give A Damn – On jumping made contact with Tinkermosa. Near the 200m was steadied to avoid the heels of Mahalangur (T. Berry), which shifted in. T. Berry was advised to exercise more care.
Hogmanay – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.
You Make Me Smile – Inside the 200m was steadied when crowded between Got Unders, which shifted out slightly, and Mahalangur (T. Berry), which shifted in. T. Berry was advised to exercise more care. Rider K. O'Hara stated that the gelding did not show its usual early speed and she had to make some use of her mount in order to cross to race outside Got Unders in the early stages. She added that in her opinion You Make Me Smile raced like it had reached the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J. Coyle confirmed that You Make Me Smile will now be spelled.
Paret – A post-race veterinary examination revealed Paret had bled from both nostrils for the second occasion. Under the provisions of AR79(6) Paret is now prohibited from racing.
Safado – Rider J. Collett stated that his mount failed to travel throughout the event due to the heavy track conditions and this was the reason it did not perform to expectations. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mrs K. Waugh concurred with the views of J. Collett and she undertook to report back to the Stewards if there was any abnormality with the gelding subsequent to the race.
Star Of The Seas – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.
Tinkermosa – Began only fairly. App. R. Dolan reported that his mount failed to handle the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 2: Canadian Club Maurice McCarten Stakes (Group 3) 1100m:

Music Magnate – At the 400m was steadied when crowded between Junglized and Trekking (K. McEvoy), which shifted out when not quite clear. K. McEvoy was advised to exercise more care.
Advance Yulong – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
Easy Eddie – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.
She Knows – Began only fairly,
Akasaki – Was slow to begin and then had to be steadied shortly after the start when crowded between She Knows and Music Magnate. Near the 450m was steadied and shifted to the inside of Advance Yulong to secure clear running.
Junglized – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which raced very wide and without cover throughout the event, did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 3: Harrolds Magic Night Stakes (Group 3) 1200m:

Probabeel – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.
Lankan Star – Rider S. Clipperton stated that his intention was to ride the filly conservatively today, but after commencing well he was unable to comply with his instructions and as a consequence Lankan Star raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event. He added that in his opinion the filly was not comfortable on today's heavy track conditions and this was the main reason for its disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Racing NSW Veterinarians will conduct an examination of the filly on Monday 18 March.
Athiri – Rider J. McDonald stated that under pressure in the straight the filly, whilst racing competitively, was not comfortable in the heavy track conditions, and inside the 50m blundered for one stride, which resulted in him putting away the whip and riding hands and heels to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed Athiri to be displaying the thumps. Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition of Athiri in the days subsequent.
Amercement – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.
Niedorp – On jumping made contact with Starla.
Still Single – Was slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages.
Villami – Began awkwardly. Rider B. Avdulla stated that at no stage of the race did his mount adapt to the track conditions and he believed this was the sole reason for the filly's poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
Invincible Lotus – A post-race veterinary examination of Invincible Lotus, which raced keenly in the early stages, found the filly to be displaying a poor post-race recovery. Trainer Mr B. Stanley was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before Invincible Lotus is permitted to race again.
Starla – Was slow to begin. Near the 50m shifted out and away from Crystal Falls, resulting in its rider, K. McEvoy, having to stop riding. Over the concluding stages was positioned close to the heels of Crystal Falls and was not fully tested to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities other than the filly lost its near-fore plate.
Icebath – Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 350m shifted out and away from Lankan Star and made contact with Probabeel, resulting in both Probabeel and Lankan Star becoming balanced.
Crystal Falls – Began only fairly.
Bronte – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small laceration to the nearhind pastern.

RACE 4: Bowermans Office Furniture Pago Pago Stakes (Group 3) 1200m:

Hightail – Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover.
Yulong Savings – Rider J. Collett stated that he attempted to restrain the colt to obtain cover in the early stages, however, Yulong Savings raced too keenly and as a result he was obliged to remain racing wide and without cover throughout the event. He said on the home turn Yulong Savings hung out when it shifted away from Rejinski, and then in the straight was most disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
Lubuk – Shortly after the start was bumped by Famous, which shifted out. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
Born A Warrior – Was slow to begin.
Mo's Crown – When placed under pressure in the straight changed stride on a number of occasions and became unbalanced.
Autocratic – Was slow to begin.
Dawn Too Good – Was slow to begin. Raced fiercely in the early stages, and near the 800m lost its position when being restrained from the heels of Famous.
Rejinsky – Trainer Mr M. Tubman was fined $100 under AR106(1) for presenting the colt with winkers, which are not part of its approved gear. Began only fairly and then was crowded between Stronger and Cosmic Force.

RACE 5: Chandon S Phar Lap Stakes (Group 2) 1500m:

Winning Partner – After being slow to begin, was crowded between Verry Elleegant and Zalatte, both of which shifted ground.
Rock – A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
Verry Elleegant – Began only fairly.
Zalatte – Rider T. Berry explained that the filly was stirred up before the event, then jumped awkwardly and consequently lost some ground at the start. He added that under pressure in the straight Zalatta found it difficult to make up ground on today's heavy track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed Zalatte to be lame (2/5) in the near-foreleg. Trainer Mr C. Waller was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before Zalatta is permitted to race again.

RACE 6: Schweppes Sky High Stakes (Group 3) 2000m:

Patrick Erin – Rider C. Brown stated that the gelding was badly checked and blundered at the start when crowded by Samadoubt, which shifted out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame (3/5) in the off-foreleg. Trainer Mr C. Waller was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before Patrick Erin is permitted to race again.
Age Of Fire – Began only fairly. Rider O. Bosson could offer no excuse for the performance of the horse, other than it was not entirely comfortable on the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame (1/5) in the near-foreleg. Co-trainer Mr C. Maher was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before Age Of Fire is permitted to race again.
Red Cardinal – On jumping was checked when crowded between Tavago, which shifted in, and Patrick Erin, which was taken out by Samadoubt.
Tavago – On jumping shifted in and shortly after was hampered by Patrick Erin, which was taken out by Samadoubt. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
Samadoubt – Began awkwardly, shifted out abruptly making contact with Patrick Erin and became badly unbalanced.

RACE 7: Coolmore Classic (Group 1) 1500m:

Oregon's Day – On jumping was hampered by Dixie Blossoms, which shifted out.
Alassio – Blundered on jumping. Rider T. Clark advised that the mare failed to handle today's heavy track conditions and attributed this as the sole reason for the manner in which it weakened in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
White Moss – For some distance near the 350m was held up behind Aloisia when that runner commenced to give ground.
Aloisia – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.
I Am Serious – Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. Rider J. McDonald stated that the mare did not travel as strongly as it has done previously and although I Am Serious was forced to endure a wide run, it was very one-paced under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be slow to recover.
Invincible Gem – Near the 300m was disappointed when endeavouring to improve between Fiesta and I Am Serious. Invincible Gem was then shifted to the outside of Noire to secure clear running near the 200m.
Princess Posh – Was held up for clear running until near the 250m.
El Dorado Dreaming – Near the 350m had to be steadied when crowded between Fiesta, which was commencing to give ground, and Dixie Blossoms (C. Reith), which shifted out. C. Reith was advised to exercise more care.
Fiesta – Stewards permitted G. Schofield to ride Fiesta a half kilogram over its declared weight of 52.5kgs. Approaching the 200m Noire shifted in slightly, resulting in I Am Serious being taken in on to Fiesta, which made slight contact with Eckstein. As a result, Eckstein then shifted in and away from Fiesta, made contact with Savvy Coup, resulting in Savvy Coup shifting out and contributing to Fiesta being checked when crowded between Eckstein and I Am Serious. D. Lane (Noire) was reprimanded and advised that he must stop riding and straighten his mounts when they commence to shift ground.
Jamaican Rain – Near the 300m shifted out slightly making contact with the hindquarter of Manicure, resulting in Manicure then shifting in and crowding Jamaican Rain. Rider G. Boss reported that Jamaican Rain travelled well in the run and despite being crowded inside the 300m he could offer no excuse for the mare's failure to finish off the race as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame (1/5) in the off-foreleg. Trainer Mr R. Laming was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before Jamaican Rain is permitted to race again.
Bella Martini – Was slow to begin.
Manicure – Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame (2/5) in the near-foreleg. Stable representative Mr D. Beadman was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before Manicure is permitted to race again.
Moss Trip – Stewards permitted T. Berry to ride Moss Trip one kilogram over its declared weight of 51.5kgs. Was slow to begin. Near the 1300m raced in restricted room between Savvy Coup and Bella Martini, which shifted in and away from Eckstein. As a consequence, Moss Trip and Savvy Coup made contact, resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced. Raced keenly throughout the early stages and near the 1200m, when Mizzy was being restrained from the heels of Jamaican Rain, had to be steadied 20190316RG 5 from the heels of Mizzy. Soon after this incident Moss Trip commenced to race fiercely and on the first turn shifted out and hampered Bella Martini. The Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition of the mare in the days subsequent.
Mizzy – Stewards permitted C. Brown to ride Mizzy one kilogram over its declared weight of 50kgs. Began awkwardly. When being crossed by Jamaican Rain near the 1200m commenced to race keenly when being steadied from the heels of that runner.

RACE 8: Hyland Race Colours Ajax Stakes (Group 2) 1500m:

Violate – Near the 150m was steadied from the heels of Fierce Impact, which shifted out as its rider, A. Adkins, was changing the whip through to his right hand.
McCreery – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.
Fierce Impact – Following the running of Race 7 C. Brown was examined by the Club's doctor and was stood down from his remaining engagement. Stewards permitted A. Adkins to be substituted as the rider of Fierce Impact. Laid in for some distance near the 200m, resulting in its rider, A. Adkins, pulling the whip through to his right hand. Over the concluding stages shifted in and brushed with McCreery and as a result was not fully tested to the finish of the event. In this incident McCreery became momentarily unbalanced,
Seaway – Rider K. McEvoy stated that although the gelding was obliged to travel wide and without cover, he felt the disappointing performance was due to Seaway not appreciating today's heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr C. Waller undertook to report back on the post-race condition of the gelding.
Abdon – Was slow to begin and then had to be steadied when crowded between Kaonic and Dyslexic, which shifted in. Rounding the home turn was held up behind Morton's Fork before shifting to that runner's inside to secure clear running on straightening.
Dyslexic – Stewards permitted B. Avdulla to ride Dyslexic a half kilogram over its declared weight of 53kgs. Over the concluding stages Dyslexic and Fifty Stars made contact due to both runners shifting ground slightly.
Brazen – Began only fairly.

RACE 9: ANZ Bloodstock News Handicap 1900m:

King Tomolola – When questioned regarding the performance, rider D. Lane stated that after he was crossed by Fabricator near the 1400m King Tomolola overraced when left without cover. He added that on today's heavy track and with top weight of 61kgs King Tomolola was unable to finish off the race principally due to its racing manners. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
Supernova – Began only fairly. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
Calibration – Near the 1500m was steadied when crowded by Gem Dealer when that runner was taken in by King Tomlola, which shifted in and away from White Boots (App. R. Dolan) as that runner commenced to cross when not quite clear. App. Dolan was reprimanded for not leaving comfortable racing room for runners to his inside.
Jake's Hill – Over the final 200m laid out and proved difficult to ride to the finish of the race.
Bajan Gold – A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
Angel Of Truth – On jumping was hampered when crowded between Bajan Gold and White Boots, both of which shifted ground. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Gem Dealer – Raced keenly in the early stages and for some distance near the 1300m was restrained from the heels of White Boots. Approaching the 200m was shifted to the inside of Fabricator to obtain clear running.
