Oaks winner - Jameka was too strong after getting a nice on-pace run

 

Rain during the meeting today at Flemington made the Oaks a real test for the three-year-old fillies over the 2,500 metries.

The two superior stayers scored the Quinella, JAMEKA surging clear from on-pace to hold off the fast finishing HONESTA, who delivered an impressive final furling.

AMBIENCE had loomed on the turn, but wasn't strong enough to beat home the top two and there was a big gap back to PASADENA GIRL in fourth. 

One of the favourites, SACRED EYE, drifted alarmingly in the market and was stuck out three-wide with no cover before fading for seventh.

Back on rails, fought on to just beat pack

Midfield on inside, moved up turn, stuck on OK

6th 10.8 lengths THE GREY FLASH

Battled on from midfield

7th 11 lengths SACRED EYE

Stuck 3W with no cover, only battled in straight

8th 14.5 lengths PRINCESS ARIA

Produced short sprint from the back, didn't see out distance

9th 14.7 lengths ZARABEEL

Over-raced at the back, didn't do much

10th 16 lengths RITZY

Short dash on inside of pack, stopped

11th 31 lengths MUZYKA

Keen and moved up inside to lead, beaten off from turn
