Vet Notes

  • Hot Blonde (NZ) (Race 5) - A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery and a veterinary certificate is required before being permitted to race again.
  • Saccharo (Race 6) - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was suffering from a throat condition and a veterinary certificate will be required before being permitted to race again.
  • Eduardo (Race 8) - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. A sample was also taken for analysis.

Summary of Races 

Race 1 ERN JENSEN FUNERALS HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

  • Hightail Raced five wide without cover. Rider Luke Nolen reported that the gelding raced wide without cover which was detrimental to its chances. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
  • Lucifer's Reward Raced three wide without cover.
  • Geraldine's Jewel Raced four wide without cover.
  • Free Thrills Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
  • Maserartie Bay When gaining momentum approaching the 100m shifted out.

Race 2 NO FUSS EVENTS HANDICAP - 1440 metres:

  • Lizard Island Raced three wide without cover.
  • Renewal Hung in over the concluding stages and as a result apprentice Jack Martin was unable to ride his mount out in its normal manner.
  • Fragment Apprentice Lachlan King, who was dislodged on the way to the barrier, was examined by the Club Doctor and passed fit to ride.
  • Sunday Pray Weakened from the 200m. Rider Jordan Childs could offer no explanation for the gelding's performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
  • Paremuus Boy Slow to begin.

Race 3 NEXT PAYMENTS HANDICAP - 1440 metres:

  • Clearly (GB) Slow to begin. Held up from after passing the 300m until passing the 50m.
  • Temple of Bel Slow to begin.
  • La Bella Diosa (NZ) Apprentice Blaike McDougall could offer no explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 4 GRUNT STANDING @ YULONG HANDICAP - 2425 metres:

  • Bondeiger Was held up approaching and passing the 300m but failed to run on after gaining clear running at this point.
  • Steel Prince (IRE) Began awkwardly. Lost its near fore plate during the race.
  • Aloft (IRE) Raced three wide without cover.
  • Refectory (IRE) Slow to begin.
  • Manning Road Slow to begin.

Race 5 THOROUGHBRED CLUB GALILEE SERIES FINAL - 2425 metres:

  • Celebrity Reign Apprentice Blaike McDougall was permitted to replace Luke Nolen when no other suitable rider was available. Steadied at the 800m after having brushed the hindquarters of Here's Alwyn which laid in slightly; then after was taken out by Alaskan Honey which was taken out by Secret Blaze which had shifted quickly to avoid the heels of Think Music which was giving ground. Given all the circumstances Stewards notified all riders to exercise care when racing in similar circumstances. Blaike McDougall could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
  • Here's Alwyn Apprentice Michael Poy was permitted to replace Clayton Douglas when no other suitable rider was available. Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped Zesto. Became unbalanced near the 800 after being brushed on the hindquarters by Celebrity Reign which had been taken out slightly.
  • American In Paris Laid in under pressure in the straight.
  • Convict Sam Shifted out at the 800m to avoid the heels of Celebrity Reign.
  • Alaskan Honey Steadied at the 800m when tightened for room between Celebrity Reign and Secret Blaze which had shifted out.
  • Jenstar Raced three wide without cover.
  • Think Music Tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
  • Hot Blonde (NZ) A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery and a veterinary certificate is required before being permitted to race again.

Race 6 L.U. SIMON BUILDERS HANDICAP - 1440 metres:

  • Outrageous Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover.
  • Saccharo Raced four wide without cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was suffering from a throat condition and a veterinary certificate will be required before being permitted to race again.
  • Unfair Dismissal Began awkwardly. Rider Luke Currie explained that after beginning only fairly from a wide draw, he found himself caught wide and for this reason eased to gain cover and settled back further than the colt's previous starts. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
  • Wild Flyer Steadied passing the 100m when giving ground and tightened for room between Banger which obtained a narrow run to its inside and Wham which, after initially shifting in slightly, was then taken in further by Outrageous (M.  Poy) which also shifted in slightly under pressure before being straightened. Stewards could not attribute this incident to any one rider but notified all riders to ride with care when in similar circumstances in future.

Race 7 HONAN INSURANCE GROUP HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

  • Propelle Raced wide without cover.
  • Ollivander Slow to begin. Shortly after the start was inconvenienced by Leiter which shifted in.
  • Viduka Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped Columbus Circle.
  • Leiter Began awkwardly, shifted in and inconvenienced Ollivander.

Race 8 YULONGINVEST.COM.AU BEL ESPRIT STAKES - 1100 metres:

  • Malibu Style Raced four wide without cover.
  • Eduardo A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. A sample was also taken for analysis.
  • Thermal Current Near the 100m had to be steadied when racing in restricted room on the inside of Milwaukee.
  • Intelligence Cross (USA) Slow to begin.
  • Desert Lashes Raced three wide without cover. Rider Luke Currie reported that the mare felt amiss in its action. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
  • Milwaukee Began awkwardly.
  • Miss Leonidas Began awkwardly, shifted in and inconvenienced Bons Away.

Race 9 MANHARI METALS HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

  • Runaway Raced three wide without cover.
  • Jumbo Prince Slow to begin.
  • Poetic Dream (IRE) Change of tactics, to be ridden more forward, led.
  • Spunlago Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
